Correlation between vomitting and labor? - Page 2

I threw up twice during my labor. Once when I was 5 cm and then about half an hour before I started pushing. I will definitely say that I didn't enjoy it, but I felt so much better after doing it. I felt like "okay, now I'm ready for this baby to come out".

Did not throw up with DS#1, but was epiduraled, n.p.o. for hours, etc.

With DS#2, I threw up right as I was entering transition. It caught me by surprise but I felt good after vomiting. With DD, when I vomited it actually made me feel great because I knew pushing would be right around the corner....

I threw up right before transition, too. I had never thrown up the entire pregnancy up to that point. After that, I said "Okay, I'm done with this, this baby is coming out." I pushed her out in about 20 minutes.

With my first, I threw up the morning that I went into labor when I was just having barely-there baby contractions and again at 4cms. I had a really long labor (it was a hospital birth) and my dd#1 wasn't even born until the following evening.
With my 2nd, I threw up right as I entered transition and she was born just over an hour later

Wow, I wish I'd have seen this post two kids ago! With DS, right at 4-5 cm, and I thought--I can't take this--and got an epi. With DD, again, 4-5 cm started throwing up, while getting the epi. (Please, no flames!) The nurse said my blood pressure must have plummetted with a contrax and the epidural and that's why I threw up....but now, knowing that it's actually normal, and maybe could have rushed labor a bit, that would have been a comfort. (And I've only puked maybe 4x in all my life, including childhood, not including labor.)

I've had severe morning sickness with both pregnancies, and threw up during both labors. The first one I threw up early on in labor (4-5 cm) and was done. The second time I only threw up a couple of times going into transition and then was done.

Wow! I also threw up at around 4-5 cm. I had no idea that it was so common at this stage! Neat!

I guess I should introduce myself before I post.
I am Katie. A Marine and a mommy and have had a birth center water birth, a wonderful home waterbirth, and a nightmare unwanted hospital land birth(very long story).
Now on with the puking...
with my first I was in labor for 23 hours. I got stuck at 8cm and gave into an AROM. I puked my brains out right after the MW broke the bag. Baby was born about 1 hour later.
Haven't puke in labor with the other 2. Fear of puking after AROM lead me to almost beating the mw when she broke out a amnihook at my homebirth!!!!

In my first labor, I vomited whenever I got in water or felt unsteady like while leaning over my ball. After @ 4 cm, I decided to either stand on the floor or side lie on the bed. The puking stopped.

In my second labor, I didn't puke at all. I was a little disappointed because it helped me dilate last time.

I threw up at different points during labor. Felt nauseous off and on in early labor; then threw up the night before DD was born. After that it was just crackers and juice for me. I threw that up too the next morning, and threw up bile once we arrived at the hospital (about 5 cm at that point.) I didn't experience that during transition, but maybe that's because there was nothing left in my stomach!
