Tutu pattern

Somewhere here I saw a link for a simple tutu pattern. Sort of looked like tulle knotted along a strand of elastic. Anybody remember or know of a link??

I haven't seen the link, but you can make a tutu with just tulle and elastic quite easily. Just fold the tulle in half sew a casing along the fold and thread the elastic through it.

However, I prefer Ribbon tutus. Gather the tulle and sew it to the ribbon. I prefer the flatter look at the waist band.

I would like to know if someone has a simple tutorial on the one with the ribbon top - is that what you mean? I assumed it was just a very wide satin ribbon used as casing.

Hi!

I make mine a lot like in the tutorial - except that I am lazy and buy the 6 inch wide spools of tulle - I think they are 25 yards long and about a buck apiece. 4 spools is enough for a nice, full tutu.

Cut your elastic about 2 inches shorter than the child's waist measurement, and stitch together securely at the ends. Cut the tulle to a little over twice the length you want the tutu to be. Loop it through the elastic like in the tutorial above (I can't remember Girl Scouts all that well, but I think it is a slipknot).

Once you get all your tull attached, you can cover over the waistband with a generous length of silky blanket binding - that is what gives the ribbon look.
