. . . you show your child a video and he excitedly says, "Let's save it to favorites!"

Oh, that reminds me . . .

. . . two children go into the Puppet Theater at the Childrens' Museum and say, "Watch Mommy! We're gonna do a movie."

In our house, it's "Momma, can you ask Tivo to cuh-cord this?"
DH and I were commenting that DS may never watch "live TV" in his lifetime!

That is so cute.

My teen Dh and I were discussing that we've gotten so used to the "find text" feature on the computer that we find ourselves wanting to push Ctrl f when we are reading so we can find a certain word or passage!

When the dad leaves at the house where I babysit, the kids always yell, "Pause it [the TV] so I can go kiss Daddy goodbye!"

Oh, when I think of all the critical plot development I had to miss in The Flintstones when I was young. No wonder I've never written The Great American Novel. I have a completely warped view of beginning, middle, and end. Sigh . . . .

Your 2yo says, "Did you charge your iPod, Mommy?" as you're heading out to the car.

Such a fun thread!

From DS4: "Mommy, if we put Backyardigans on your iPod, can I watch it during church?"

DS13, at the time about 5 (so it wasn't 2007), after being told that when I was a child, most people did not have cable TV, a microwave, a VCR or an answering machine, and cell phones, personal computers, video games, CDs, and DVDs did not even exist: "Jeez, Mom, did you at least have a car, or did you have to go on a wagon with horses like on Little House on the Prairie?"

DS13, to me, upon coming home from school 2 days ago: "Hey, dude. Wazzzup?"

DD11, just a few days ago: "Hey Mom, can I show my friends the pictures of the puppies on your blog, or should I put them on flickr?" (The answer was to put them on flickr; I don't think the elementary school librarian would be happy if kids spent their computer lab time reading my foul-mouthed rants!)

I remember asking my mom what it was like in the "olden days." But life has changed MUCH more between my and my children's generations than it did between my parents' and mine!

. . . the 8-year-old you babysit for sits in front of the computer and asks you if you want to play eBay. (Her mom runs an eBay business.)

your child has no concept that vhs's need to be rewounded.

I remember having to wait to watch my movies, but my 2 year old just doesn't get this!

Yeah, and what must the kids think when we tell them they sound like a broken record?

Just doesn't have the same effect when you say they sound like a scratched CD.

The fact that my dd will probably own something more advanced then her/my ipod. The fact that she knows how to turn on my cell and call daddy...sheesh

Wait until you have to ask her for help with the computer!

When I have to remind my kids that to call my GF they need to press and HOLD number 2 on my cell phone and that when they hear the song "Loosen up my buttons" they can answer the phone!

When my 4 yo has a folder on the desktop and anytime he sees anything cool on the computer he wants to save it to his folder

When a 6 yr old acquitance saw my typewriter (that's right an electric typewriter) he said, "Look that computer has a printer attached to it."

When my DD (3) found a cassette tape and asked what it was; after being told it was a "tape", she preceded to try to wrap gifts with it.

When you need to look up information, you goggle it, you don't get a book from the library.

Long distance phones calls don't cost more than local calls.

A card catalogue? Never seen one of those at the library.
