Writing at Associated Content (Please Read & Follow Thread Rules) - Page 7

I don't have a solution to the picture problem - I've encountered that problem myself.

I can rate myself if I erase my cookies over and over again, but it is SLOW going. I wored onit for two hours today and got some of my articles up .1 but my breastfeeding one hasn't moved at all. Someone has a hell of a lot of time on their hands.

If I had any suspicions at all, ANY clue - I'd be downrating them right bac. But, I don't.

Yeah, unfortunately it's hard to tell. A lot of the times it's just some anonymous jerk. :/

Remind me again of some of the alternatives to AC? I checked out Helium, but if I understand correctly their pay is based entirely on page views.

I'll have to check out Helium.

I got a new piece up on unassisted pregnancy prenatal routines. Some downrater already hit it and took my rating down to a 1.7 :/

Grrr.... I'm furious! Someone named "Raven" on AC, not a CP, but one of the unregistered users, left a comment on my dental floss review that called me a downrater and said "Do not rate your mediocre articles a 5.0 and downrate others to a 2.0 to take them off the front page. This is stealing." I'm so furious that anyone would think I did that. I don't have the time or the inclination to downrate anyone. It's a nice surprise when my articles make it to the front page. The funny thing is, my husband had the laptop at a meeting all night, so I didn't even know my two other product reviews were there, much less rated a 5. He just got home and I checked into AC to find that. Grrr... How annoying. OK, I'm going to let it go now. The whole downrater thing has gotten out of hand, though. People are obviously doing it, but then for someone who doesn't do it to be accused is just crappy. My husband said Raven was probably a downrater. Anyway, I deleted his comment.

Yeah, people are all upset about downraters lately, because they are everywhere. And people are getting really quick to believe others are downraters. But, you know, the same thing happened to Heather James. Some articles on the front page were downrated, and hers mysteriously uprated...but she knows she didn't do it. And basically we think someone did it to try to make her look guilty. Maybe you too?

I got a new piece up about unwanted parenting advice. They didn't accept it for payment. I wrote it weeks ago and just finally got around to posting it without asking for payment.

Heather - I'll check out your new piece for sure. I visited the AC forum last night and apparently, several people were uprated yesterday. My articles got a few more comments than they otherwise would have, so it was cool.

I'm still in a writing slump, but I've had a busy week with other things, so I have sort of an excuse this week.

Amy - How was Montel? Can't wait to see the show.

Yes the uprating is weird. A few people are being uprated instead of downrated lately. Maybe the dreaded downraters are turning a new leaf. It's still wrong tho :/

yes, Amy, how did you and Summer do at Montel? Did you guys get along good? What'd ya talk about? When does it air?

I'll take the good samaritan upraters any day!!!

Lol!

My newest article made the front page. I just got home from bowling to see a few positive comments, and my rating was 4.7. Out of curiosity, as at night the top rated articles are usually 4.7s, I checked the page. There I am, at the very top of the list. I had a 4.9 on it at one point. Very neat. And AC didn't even pay me for this one. THey rejected it. Joke's on them!

I think my clout will go up to 7 next time they update the page views. That's kinda neat.

I sub to everyone here, or at least I think I do. I feel bad, I usually comment all of the articles that you all write but I have not done that in a while, I promise I am reading and rating them though, I always worry that I'll sound like I am offering empty generic feedback not sound sincere or something.

Anyway since the last time that I posted 5 days ago, I think there were pieces published by:
myrrhmaid
velcromom
Twocoolboys
mrskennedy
moonfirefaery
Drummer's Wife
queenbean

So good job everyone! If I forgot someone, I am truly sorry it is nothing personal I promise.

I hope that you all, everyone on MDC, have good luck with your writing.

I am writing like crazy, my little one has been a little extra needy (which is fine) and I am in the process of moving, put in an application yesterday so I am crossing my fingers that I hear back from them, so I apologize that I haven't been active on the thread for a while.

If you don't see me as one of your subscribers please PM me with your CP page, if my pm inbox is full you can send me an email!

My little one just started to need my undivided attention so sorry I didn't get a chance to address all of the current topics of the thread.

Lol! I actually wrote while bowling with my husband!! I did a whole article and wrote outlines for two more!

I don't have a few of your content produce pages. I don't think I have Drummer's Wife, velcromom, or myrrhmaid. Can you girls PM me your links?
: : Ever since I complained that my article wasn't even read by the editor, every single one of my articles has been rejected.: The main argument has been "This content is not original." What does that mean? How do I write an original news story?

I guess I'll just stick with their topic requests from now on.

Alisa I am so sorry.

I started AC a few months ago, but haven't really taken a good look into it until recently. I've published a handful of articles but am only getting offered between $3 - $5 which seems awfully low--of course, I'm also not selling exclusive rights either. I did one recently on metformin and Breastfeeding and one on extended nursing.

Y'all wanna share your tried and true tips for a newbie? And feel free to PM me with links to your profiles so I can add you to favorites.

Alisa, what kinds of articles are getting rejected? I've never been rejected for unoriginality before. :/ Did you try writing editor@associatedcontent.com to plead your case?

I believe that I read that article, did you also have an article on a gas leak and a cleaning products one?

Glad to have you on the thread!
Welcome Snowbunny! Could you pm me your link? I would love to read your articles. I have a friend who was taking metformin. It's for pcos, right?

Alisa - That is frustrating. I had one article rejected a couple of weeks ago on ticks and lyme disease. The reason they gave was that there was too much similar content at AC.

When and where do you all write, and where are your kids? I have trouble finding time. I often write on a notepad and then type up my articles later. I take my kid to Burger King to play a lot while I write. I have minimal time when he is sleeping or when my husband is home, but during the day, I just don't have time. How do you keep your kids entertained and out of trouble when you write?
