Writing at Associated Content (Please Read & Follow Thread Rules) - Page 9

Many AC alternatives only pay on a per-view basis, so I wonder is that is why they are lowering initial offers?

My epi got my lungs, plunged DS' heart rate to 55, and led directly to my c-section.

This time around, I have a whole new midwife. I just witnessed her deliver my dear friend's daughter during a home water birth, and she's a Master Herbalist. Plus, she actually established Utah's midwifery school. So, I expect a different experience this time around.

PS - I injured my right hand a few weeks ago, so I have done very little writing and very little crocheting lately!

I hope this time you get the birth you want! I'm so sorry about your last experience. *hugs* They were threatening me with a C-section after TEN MINUTES of pushing because I wasn't doing it the way they wanted me to.

Just wanted to do a small happy post about getting an article accepted for something over $7.00 finally. Finally. Lately it's been all low offers.

Hurray!!! What was your topic?

I have been terrible about writing lately. I got in a slump, and now I have all these half-finished articles that just won't come together. It's depressing.

More than depressing, it's really really bad... we need any money we can get right now, and if I don't write, I do'nt make money. I just keep writing things and I get so much on the page and then start to think it just sucks. I should probably just submit them anyway... even if I got 3 bucks, it's better than the nothing I'm getting by not submitting anything.

Queenbean - I'm in a slump too. I've been in one for about two weeks now. I've got four article ideas that I'm going to write this week.

Alisa - Your epi experience sounds awful. I never had one, but my sis had one with her first baby. She had a relatively fast labor and delivery. After it was all over, she couldn't move her legs and she had a panic attack.

Has anyone ever applied to write for Suite 101? I think I'm going to apply. You have to fill out their on-line application, submit your resume and two writing samples. It sounds interesting, though. I don't really know how their pay scale works, but I am going to try to get my resume together this week. I haven't worked a real job that I needed a resume for in 8 years, so it's going to take a bit for me to get it together - lol. I hope I can find an old one so I've got something to work off of.

I just had 7 pieces go live. One on circumcision, one on happy stuff about pregnancy, one on affording to CD, one about why I love home daycare, one about cutting, and my youtube piece which has lots of videos you guys will love as ap folks. and I also did a piece about being a military wife, a confessional one in which I invoke the wrath of the whole military community with my shameful confessions lol

Heather - Your piece on cutting is in the showcase on the front page!!! Congrats!

Yeah I just noticed that! I'm all excited. That's like, I think the second piece of mine to be in the Showcase. Yay for recognition and page views! I occasionally make Top Rated, but some downrater inevitably comes along and takes me to a 1.something so I'm knocked off. I'll be on the front page for a few days which is great, because I think it can really help other people in that position to hear my story.

Someone should do the news story on the Ronald McDonald House in Houston threatening to evict a mama andher sick child for breastfeeding in the communcal area. I did one but it was rejected for being "synthesized" and "unoriginal." : It's still an important news item - it even showed up in the NY Times the day after my story was rejected.

I was going to but wanted the mama's permission. I wrote the sister, but she never got back to me on doing an interview.

A woman I know from another board wrote a RMH/BF Mom article.

Maybe you could submit for non-payment just to get the word out?

I just got an offer from AC for an article about celebrities and breastfeeding and they actually gave me a compliment! I'm shocked - they said it was well-written and informative and to be sure to promote it. They only gave me $6.00 though - lol. Hopefully they'll publish it pretty quickly.

Ladies I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to post. My sister had a baby on Saturday and I just got busy.

You know someone did on the 18th, Drummer's Wife was the first to comment it and Heather you recently commented on an article by the same author that she did about c-sections.

Heather congrats on the featured article, I spent the better part of this morning reading articles that were published by everyone on this thread and you had quite a few go through recently. Way to go, I commented your circ one, but I only rated the rest. I always worry that my comments will sound dumb. I also remember reading an article about bone broth, very nice velcromom. To be honest though I am a vegetarian.

Well keep writing everyone!
