after clomid - then what? (also in ttc)

So last cycle the clomid 50s did nothing for me. I'm on the 100s now, and have a u/s Thursday to check for follies.

Now, hopefully, I will have a giant follie or three, can trigger and finally do an IUI this month, and the rest of this post will be moot. I'm not holding my breath, though, and wanted to get some opinions before my appt Thursday.

If I have zero follie growth on this cycle, I know the next logical step is to move to Clomid 150mg. But, I haven't seen anyone that had nothing on 50s or 100s have miraculous success with the 150s. Has anyone else?

Now, if RE sees *some* progress this time, I completely understand upping it to 150 next cycle. But if nothing?

I'm considering begging and pleading him to move on to either Femara (if his office uses it) or injectibles if the 100s do absolutely squat for me this time.

Thoughts? Input?

I can't remember exactly.. but I know I was on at least 100mg, if not 150 when we were TTC #1. I know I didn't ovulate the first 2 cycles (maybe 50, then 100), and then ovulated 3 out of then next 4 cycles. It is possible to ovulate on a higher dose, even if you don't respond to the lower dose. Don't give hope yet!!

For ds, we did 2 rounds of clomid (100mg I think, maybe 150, can't remember) and nothing happened. I was still nursing dd at the time, so that may have had an impact. We then did 1 cycle of injectibles (Follistim) and I got pregnant with ds. I've heard that in general, injectibles are more effective.

Good luck!!!

IMO, I would ask to move onto injectables. I did very high doses of clomid and had very little response. My RE thinks that if you don't respond early to clomid (lower doses) that you'll probably not respond very well at all. He encouraged me to move onto injectables. I respond really well to gonal (although I am still waiting for that bfp!) and have had no side effects like I did with the clomid (horrible migraine headaches). But, I did get pg with a very high dose of clomid in 2003, my last cycle before moving onto injectables. But that was from my ob/gyn and involved very little monitoring.

Good luck with your decision and hope you have a healthy pregnancy, and soon!

Jumping in here, I hope you don't mind! I'm in the same boat and just got upped to 100's clomid. I go next Tues for hopefully an big fat trigger shot and then in the next day for the IUI. I too am in the "now what" boat, as I don't want to keep going on the clomid w/ no results. I had to skip last cycle due to some cysts, so I'm hopeful....but not confident

I too want to request some injectables for the next cycle.

It's so tough for me though because with my first I conceived on first round of 50's w/out the trigger and just an IUI. I am so stumped as to why that magic didn't work the same way this time around.
