what were you most hungry for after birth?

Hopefully kind of a fun question:

What were you MOST hungry for right after birth? Is there something you wanted/craved more than anything?

I was soooooo hungry after giving birth, I would have eaten ANYTHING anyone would have offered me.

Oh yes, it was a chocolate tall cake, from Ruby Tuesday, for those of you that isn't familiar with it, it comes in a huge glass (three of us share it) it has chocolate cake and chocolate syrup and so many other things that i don't even remember right now. On the way home from the hospital we stopped and had one, haven't had one since

CARBS!

I wanted pancakes, waffles, grits, bacon, and milk. I've never been so hungry in my life.

i had no appetite for days after. i just ate a little of whatever i was served at the hospital, but DH ate most of it.

I wanted OJ. I choked down food because I had to get some energy, but all I wanted for hours after the birth was lots and lots of OJ.

another vote for anything. although, foods that had a high calorie to bite ratio were preferable because i was so exhausted. think pizza, macaroni and cheese, maybe some kind of hearty stew.

Anything. A friend brought over some cheeseburgers, which were awesome. The hospital gave me a turkey sandwich with honey mustard, which hit the spot so well that I kept eating turkey sandwiches for weeks. Of course, now I'm a vegetarian, so wouldn't eat either of those things even after giving birth (I don't think!).

I wasn't too hungry for a few hours, really ...... but my midwives made my DH make me 2 hardboiled eggs to eat and then later I requested a bologna sandwich (go figure! eww!) lol

A few hours later, I was famished and REALLY wanted PIZZA!

I wasn't hungry, just thirsty, in between contractions I drank 1 cup each time

I wanted toast with peanut butter and tea. Though this may have been because I used to work in a hospital where tea and toast were the standard post-birth offering.

Even after that I was starving, so I ate the rest of the snacks I had set aside for labour and not yet eaten- trail mix, fruit leather, banana.

As a funny side note- I sent my dh to buy me some good scotch while I was in labour, since I thought I would want some after giving birth! I don't think that bottle of scotch was opened for a couple of months

I wanted a huge greasy breakfast from somewhere like Waffle House, but everything was closed. We were in the middle of a terrible ice storm. I just made it to the birthing center a few hours before everything started freezing. I had to settle for graham crackers and trail mix. I was so disappointed. Since the power and heat went out at the birthing center after the birth, we had to go to my mom and dad's house because it was closer. I had to settle for chicken noodle and a cheese sandwich. I hope I'll get my breakfast next time!

I was sick for my whole pregnancy and for the first time in 9 months I could keep food down. It didn't matter what it was, I ate it.

Salty snack mix

Pumpkin pie (ds #1 was born on thanksgiving day)
Peanut butter & jelly sandwhich

Nothin' fancy here, just your basic comfort food

I wasn't nearly as healthy as some - I wanted a hamburger from my favorite local place. I knew I'd want it so it was even on my birth plan! Even though my homebirth attempt was transferred, my DH went out as soon as we got home from the hospital and got me the cheeseburger with the requested toppings.

anything I felt as though I hadn't eaten in years...LOL

I developed pre-eclampsia and wasn't allowed to eat or drink for nearly four days. When I got the go ahead, DH brought me a ton of sushi and I ate every piece! I have never enjoyed a meal as much as that one. And I only dropped a few pieces of rice on my nursing newborn...

With ds1, it was toast. Ds2 was pizza.

Interestingly enough, ds1's favourite foods are breads and rolls of any kind. Wonder if ds2 will be a pizza fanatic.
