I am 12 weeks pregnant and have intended to have prenatal care from the start of my pregnancy, but have been TERRIFIED of actually going to an OB. My last pregnancy was unbelievably horrible because of the treatment I got from my OB/CNM practice, and the scare tactics they used to try to get me to agree to the intervention of their choice (c-section). I almost didn't get prenatal care at all this pregnancy, not because I didn't think I would need it, but because I am terrified to a point of almost paralesis thinking about it.
However, I just made my appointment, and I am going to go see a reccomended CNM/OB team that a local midwife suggested I check out. They asked me the wierdest question (wierd from my limited background anyways) They asked me if I was planning a birth center or home birth. My last practice told me that homebirths brought death and Id be crazy to even consider it. I'm just amazed that they would be so open minded as to even ask. Guess we'll find out how things go when I got on the 19th.
