Lard

Does anyone know anything about rendering lard? I don't like to use comercial lard for a bunch of reasons. I live in a remote area with very few resorces though so finding organic lard is...impossible. I'd like to try making my own.

I've done it a few times; it's not hard at all, and definitely worthwhile. I just followed some directions online... don't remember which site, but this search turned up a lot of results:

I asked this question about a year ago and got some great answers--be sure to follow Clucky's link. Also, here are some useful directions for crockpot lard that I've followed successfully.

I recently rendered lard and I did half in a crockpot and half on the stove. While the crockpot took forever ( like 36 hours or so), I prefered it much over the stove methode...
