Traveling to Las Vegas at 38 weeks?

Hello everyone,

I've been a lurker here for a while and I love reading all the useful advice. I have a bit of a problem. My husband and I usually go to Las Vegas during the Easter weekend to attend a rockabilly convention. We've been doing this for the past 6 years. I would really like to attend this weekend but I am afraid that it will somehow induce labor. We live in Los Angeles. Thankfully, my pregnancy has gone well. I've only gotten the swollen ankles.
Has anyone else travelled this late in pregnancy?

Ahhhh, I went to Viva the first 6 years!!! I don't believe that it would induce labor...but you know how crazy it gets. Do you think you'll really be able to enjoy Viva without being able to party all night, and dance until the wee hours? Not to mention you won't be able to really shop for much The car show will kinda bite too. I'm a couple days shy of 38 weeks, and I'll tell you what, my feet kill after a coupple hours walking at the mall. Vegas is SOOOO big....walking, walking, walking...though everything seems so close. I'd let your DH go, and just sit back and relax at home with your friends or family. My friend was about 30 weeks when she went to Viva, and it was a waste for her. She went to bed early...stayed at the Gold Coast which made it difficult for her to even GET good sleep. The smoke bothered her, even though she was a mild smoker before pregnancy. She didn't really get to enjoy all Viva has to offer. I'd wait until next year if I were you.

Hey...are you going to go to the Post Viva party at The British Dominion on the 14th? We live a few miles from there, so we're going to go. I don't know how late I will be able to handle staying...we'll see, but if you go, let me know! It'd be fun to meet another MDC momma!

I have never been to LV, but I know at 38 weeks it doesn't sound like my idea of fun, more like misery. Last week at 36 weeks we took a road trip 4 hrs each way with fairly minimal walking around and I was so incredibly sore all over by the time we got home.

I love to go out and do things, so if it is with in 2 hrs of home i would probably go and enjoy myself, just take it easy and have fun make sure you have a nice room where you can rest! anyway i would go

Vegas is a LOOONG boring 4 hour (minimum) ride through the desert. Once you get there, it's LOTS of walking and smokey casinos. Seriously, it just wouldn't be fun....especially the event that Chayo wants to go to. It's great when you can really enjoy it.

I went to Atlantic City at 39 weeks. The worst part was the last half hour of the ride when I had to pee so bad, but it would have been easier to wait it out then to try to find a bathroom. Then, we walked for almost 2-3 hours straight as we were looking for a not full poker room. It was not fun, but I was fine once I sat down. I woudl say it mostly depends on what you will be doing and if you can rest.
