Discharge Confusion

Warning: TMI

I'm not sure if this should be posted here, but I need some advice. It's been almost 12 months since dd's birth. I haven't gotten my period yet and I am concerned because I've had discharge for a few weeks now. It's not pre-period spotting, it's more like white discharge and sometimes it's thick. I've sometimes felt a little crampy as if my period would start any day, but nothing happens. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if something else might be going on. Any suggestions...

It might be your body's way of gearing up for ovulation and your pp period. But if the discharge has an unusual smell or really bothers you a lot you can check with your care provider to make sure it isn't some kind of infection.

Odorless thick white discharge is pretty normal and the cramping might be ovulation pain.

Thanks Jilian...it is odorless and there really isn't discomfort associated with it. I just wanted to check that I wasn't alone in this. It's been so long since I had a period that I"ve actually forgotten what happens before you start.

I started my first pp period when DS was 15 months old. For a few months prior to this, I was getting increased discharge as my body was getting ready to ovulate. The month I started again, I knew I had ovulated because the discharge was like egg white. I got my period soon after. Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? The book does an excellent job of explaining our fertility signs. There is even some good information there for breastfeeding moms, although it isn't much.
