Wardrobe malfunction!

OK, I am embarrassed to say that I am already totally showing at only 7 1/2 weeks, and none of my clothes fit!!! In my defense this is my third pregnancy and I am thin to start with so every little bit shows, but STILL--this is ridiculous! I just don't know what to wear--maternity clothes make me look so PREGNANT, which is a problem since I'm really trying not to advertise at this point. Plus the tops are too baggy and make me look ridiculous. But regular tops don't cover the panel in the maternity pants. I tried wearing a baggier regular-person blouse (from when I was postpartum with my DD and had enormous nursing boobs) over my unzipped regular-person jeans today, and well, that didn't go so well either! : I always feel sooo awkward and ucky-looking at this stage (probably exacerbated by all the irritability, nausea, and fatigue!). Have any of you figured out what to wear at this point????

OMG I can identify! I'm almost 10 weeks with my first, have gained 8 pounds, and almost nothing is comfortable. Right now I'm wearing my biggest elastic waist pants pulled all the way down around my hips b/c I can't stand the pressure on my tummy. I got some Bella bands that I've tried twice but I haven't been hugely impressed. Maybe I need more experience with them.

My tops were kinda long to begin with so they're still ok if I stretch them out before I put them on so they're not too clingy. I have some empire-waisted tops which are fashionable right now but I look SO PREGNANT in them that I'm not wearing them to work yet. I'm short and on the thinner side (er, was) so I guess that makes everything more obvious. I dread having to spend the weekend shopping but it's getting ridiculous! Maybe I'm pregnant with quads? :

Well, I actually just went shopping today for some new tops in the new hip style , which happens to be perfect for pregnant people. You know those tops that are about 5 inches longer than tshirts used to be and have the empire waist and then are somewhat floaty/drapey on the bottom? Not necessarily what I'd normally buy, but they are pretty darn cute.

I figure they'll work for the next 2 or 3 months and they'll cover the panel on any pants I might need to start wearing soon (although mostly I only need to undo buttons and zippers in the evenings so far).

Try the Bella Band over your regular pants and jeans.
Also, try a few pairs of gauchos for pants. Everyone's wearing them and you're allowed to look sloppy.
Look for some cute empire waist shirts (the ones that hug the boobs and hang from there) that can be found in regular shops and maternity shops.
Layer a long tank underneath it as needed.

If you find a way to pull it off, let me know. I'm not even 7 weeks and completely in my maternity clothes...and I haven't gained a pound! It sucks.

JC Penney (online, not sure about stores) sells some no-panel maternity pants that look pretty cute. You could probably get away with them for the next few months!

At home I wear scrubs and pj's. When I go out I take one of the clear plactic hair bands and loop it around my button hole and then their is a loop for the button. It give me an inch and some stretch. That way I don't need to give up my pants quite yet. I am eight weeks and looking forward to a belly. I did not show or need to loop my pants till 16 wks last time. I just feel the same as you. I would feel silly in maternity pants now with barely a belly, but enough to not fit my normal clothing.

I'm down to one pair of pants to leave the house in! And they stopped being comfortable last weekend. I've tried the rubber band trick, but its the all over fit, so that doesn't help. I pulled out my maternity stuff and it's still all huge, so I'm thinking I'm screwed for a while. No clue what to do, shopping really isn't much of an option right now either.

thanks!

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who just feels like a bit of a mess right now! I'm trying to get dressed for the day right now, and just keep staring into my closet as if something that works will magically appear there...

I like to steal dh's t-shirts at this stage. I've also got some nice knit skirts that will stretch to accomodate me, some stretchy yoga pants, and some men's jeans from Gap that still fit me (they are straight cut instead of larger in the hips/smaller in the waist, so I have plenty of belly room). I also bought a maternity dress from Old Navy that is an empire waist style, you can't tell that it's maternity at all, just looks loose, comfy and flowy. I love it, it's so comfy and cool for our already hot summer in Georgia!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!!! 6 weeks, not gained an ounce and totally popped. Can't button my jeans!!! Yikes. At this rate I'll be wearing mat. pants by next week. (kind of a problem when u aren't planning to 'tell' the public yet!!). I feel like I have to hide it! ANyone else feel that way?

I'm glad we just told everyone from the get go. LOL. Cuz I'm as big as a house. ALREADY!

Here is me last night, and thats sucking it in! LOL
It's genetics in my family. The joke with my grandma is that after #1 she knew the next morning after conception...cuz her pants didn't fit

I just saw a Tshirt online that says "I'm not getting fat, I'm pregnant" .. sounds liek a plan to me!

8.5 weeks with #3 here and I'm struggling too. I haven't gained any weight but my regular clothes certainly don't fit... figuring out what to wear puts me in a bad mood every day!

I'm wearing either low-rise maternity pants or elastic waist pants. Not many of my regular shirts are long enough but I bought a few long tank-tops at Target to layer underneath, it adds length and luckily layers are in style right now. Last time I invested in a few fitted/smaller maternity shirts and they are worth it! I hope to get a few more this time, and some empire waisted items sound good too.

Just here to commiserate. I've not gained an oz yet I can't fit into anything but sweats. I think I'll be wearing a lot of sweats and stretchy workout shorts. But wth am I going to do for Easter service!?!?!?
It is SUCH a pain. I totally didn't expect to have any wardrobe problems for several months!! Yet, here are a few things getting tight. Not as bad as many of you though.

Still, I am SO excited. I just look at it as one more thing that tells me this pregnancy (I am only 6 weeks) is probably going okay and I can relax!

THought I'd drop in and add my wisdom from two pregnancies past...

yoga pants, my friends! They are so comfortable, you can wear them pretty much all the way through your pregnancy (I just bought two or three pair in each size as I grew), and they seem to be readily available everywhere, for much less than most maternity pants. AND, no panel to give you away before you're ready to tell! They do, too, look great with those longer t-shirts ( I just bought a little bigger so they'd be a little baggier), or you can dress them up with some dressy boots and a nicer "floaty" top with an empire waist, and again...nobody will know, now, while you're just "thick" and won't until you start to get a bump! And did I mention that they're comfy? One of my girlfriends shared this with me (we both have long legs and are hard to fit...so she suggested just going to my regular "Standby" store and getting the yoga pants, and "voila!" maternity pants) when I was pregnant with my 1st, and I am soooooo grateful!
