Nifty thing I learned about my own birth

I've known all my life that I was born via c-section after 30 some hours of back labor.

What I didn't know is that this happened 2 weeks after the EDD.

And my mom didn't even have to refuse an induction!

My girlfriend admitted that she was born 2 weeks late and her husband was born 2 weeks late, but never doubted that she herself should be induced at 41 weeks. Her OB said that was as far as he'd "let" her go, and she didn't argue.

Times have certainly changed.

my mom was 2 weeks late with her first. (he was posterior, like you were, i'm guessing.)

i'm really hoping i won't be 2 weeks late because i don't want to have to deal with putting off the induction...haven't asked my OB how far he will "let" me go because i'm hoping it won't come up. my mom was "on time" with her other 2, almost exactly to the due date.

my mom was 12 days overdue with my sister...her dr told her if she hadn't had the baby by sept 14 they'd see how the baby was doing and then go from there. he said if she were still pregnant in oct but my sis was doing ok then he wouldn't induce!

but once she was in labor and started pushing he only gave her an hour to push her out...then it was c-sect time. lucky for me she came out just as they were prepping for surgery.

I am friends with a woman who has a dd close in age to me.

She went 4 weeks late till she had her dd on her own accord. She used a dr. Amazing IMO.

I was born something like 6 weeks after the EDD, which was obviously an error (even if I was "late" I really doubt I was 6 weeks "late," lol).

And I, too, think of this with fresh perspective since my mother was never pressured or made to feel afraid about it. I don't know what happened, but I'm guessing that when the EDD came and went they eventually said, "hmm, we must have gotten the dates wrong, oh well." My mom went into labor on her own and had me vaginally and drug-free within 2 or 3 hours after she noticed contractions. My mom never really even made a big deal about that part of the birth story (how "late" I was) when I was growing up, she mentioned it a few times but no big thing.

Myself and three of my four siblings were late--my brother was due at the end of February, and his birthday is April 3.
My firstborn was induced at 40 weeks (boo) and, having learned my lesson, my second was allowed to come when she was ready--14 days after my EDD.

I was a month late--due June 1, born July 1. But, since I was only 9.5 lbs, my mom did tell me after my birth that she thought her cycles were irregular, and she was probably only 1-2 weeks overdue.

I also thought it was cool that it wasn't a big enough deal to mention until it came up in passing during a chat.

My mom was charting her cycles so the EDD was based on actual ovulation.

My mom had 4 kids, all between 9 and 21 days past the edd.

I wasn't surprised when my two came 15 and 12 days past respectively.

I was reportedly 1.5 weeks "late;" my own were 4 weeks early, 2.5 weeks early, on "due date," 2.5 weeks "late," almost 3 weeks "late," respectively. Last three were vba2cs, good thing I built in 10 or so days to my LMP! I wonder how long I would go with #6, but I probably will never know!

I was a month late - induced due to my mother having toxemia {ecclampsia} and really high BP {300+/200+}. Prior to that no mention of induction!
