My employer calls me and tells me that I have a five day waiting period for materinity leave (handled through short-term disability) because... get this... I didn't stay overnight in a hospital! So because I had my baby in a free-standing birth center I lose a week of pay? Blah. I saved them the cost of the hospital, too. What a joke. I'm going to see if I can fight it - it feels discriminating!
