I thought i would start a thread for those of us working on our certifications through CBI. We can keep each other updated, answer questions, share stories or just plain vent or gloat.

I just started my doula certs. I have 2 women interested in me attending their births so im trying to scrap and get as much info as i can before their births! Everyone feel free to share!:

Hi ter. I enrolled last summer, zipped throughthe reading and the tests and did the first draft of the reflective essay assignement, then got "stuck". Well, I put the course aside for a while for personal and health reasons then kind of forgot about it.:
Now I am ready to get back into it. I think this may be a good motivation for me.

I enrolled Feb of 2006 and have not attended a birth since  None have come my way, and now I'm 23 wk pregnant with twins and unable to attend births for oh, maybe 1.5 yr. No problem with available births before then. Just a little rant!

Other than the 2 needed births, I just have to send in my teaching video with curriculum. I absolutely LOVED teaching CBE. I trained as a teacher and liked it OK, but now that I'm teaching adults, it's fabulous!

I'm here to give input if needed. The reflective essay assignment was one of the best parts for me. Yeah, anyone can find answers to an anatomy course. But to be made to do deep thought processes was much better IMO. Totally worth the time and effort.

Hello Plaid! Welcome! Hope we can provide some motivation for you and vice versa. I think its much easier to get stuck with a home study course then it is with some of the other courses that insist on workshops. BUT its also easier so that when things come up, you can stop and restart!

Ho MamaRabbit! Welcome. Seems like you have been one busy momma!!! I would love to hear more about the teaching cirriculum. Im extremely intimidated to speak in front of strangers, so weird since i was such an outgoing child. But i am, my secret is out. Somedays i wonder if it would matter, since im so very passionate about natural childbirth. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences and your classes!

Hi there,

Just thought I would give this a bump! I am looking into taking the CBE and doula training courses through CBI.

I am very tempted to just start. Like right now. Oh wait. I need money first.
I will likely start very soon though, if all goes well.

Excited!!

akamommy - I'm wondering the same about myself, as I am quite an introvert. It seems that when I'm talking about natural childbirth, breastfeeding, cosleeping, etc I seem to lose that shyness though. So I think it will work out. I am a little nervous of a video camera though.

Welcome Winnie!!!! Have you looked into their payment program?

I'm having a ROUGH time studying and need a kick in the butt. I'm in the midst of a divorce and it seems to be sucking everything out of me lol!

I just set up the camera in the corner and ignored it. I'm an introvert but when teaching about what I love it all comes out!
