Let's try to put together one thread -- so we can all support each other in our birth choices

Hopsital?
CNM or OB?
HOme?
alone or MW?

ANd what is your ideal vs what you may have?

We are going for a hopstial birth (our 2nd) with an OB, our first was witha CNM.

I'm doing a hospital birth (also our 2nd) with a CNM, our first was with an OB.

With our current living situation a homebirth is not in the cards. I'm hoping that with one of my kids (we'd like 4) we're at a place in our lives where I can have a m/w assisted homebirth.

I'm not totally sure yet. I requested a referral to the birth center with several CNM's here, so that's my first choice. I don't know if my insurance will approve it or not yet. I guess if they don't, I'll probably be doing a military hospital birth with a CNM.

We had our other two at a birth center (different state and different insurance at the time) and I really enjoyed my experience. I can't really imagine a hospital birth, but I'll deal with it if I have to.

My first choice is a homebirth, but it's just not going to work out this time. I'm not sure if there will be another baby, but if there is, I will do everything in my power to get a homebirth.

Planning a homebirth with a midwife, much like with DD. Not sure if we'll have a doula yet. We planned to have one with DD but didn't end up with one due to a tragic car accident and in the end, DH did fine, but this time if he is looking after DD, we will need someone else there.

Planning a birth at our local birthing center with the midwives there. My DS was born there and it went well. The only issue this time (well, I hope the only issue is that my sister has moved across the country and may or may not be able to be there in time for the birth. I definitely want someone besides DH there, just not sure whether to hire a doula or ask a good friend.

homebirth, midwife.

Hospital, with an OB. Hoping for a natural VBA2C.

I'd like to do a homebirth with a MW, I really would. But after thinking over all the risks and benefits of my particular situation, I've decided to go the hospital route.

Homebirth with midwife, hopefully it will go wonderfully just like last time!

Well, we are hoping and praying fervently to deliver at home with our registered midwife. We need tons and tons of prayers for this delivery - it will be a VBAC for us!

Homebirth with a midwife (same one who delivered DD ). Her backup will also be there, if she makes it. DD came really quick and was almost a UC (head was out before the midwife made it but she did turn up in time to "catch" her). So if this one comes even quicker it could end up being UC - need to start reading up, just incase!

Homebirth with a midwife. It'll be our first. I plan on having a doula there to assist the midwife and help me out in the first couple of hours when I'm feeling really bad and dh is holding the baby. I'll also have another 2-3 people there to assist with the children because I want them there to see the baby born, but they need someone with them.

Hospital vs Home VBAC

We are still trying to decide and looking for a CNM who will do home and/or hospital delivery.

Last time was hospital with OB and C-Section. Hoping for a vaginal birth (this is my main goal) whether at home or hospital.

Ideally have a midwife who will see me through the process as well as parallel care with my OB.

My OB helped his wife birth his third at home. Buried the placenta under a tree and is prepared to let my husband catch so I'm very happy with him. When he did my section before we got to the OR he said-I will do a low transverse so you can have your next one vaginally.

Here's hoping a good decision will come to me.

Planning a homebirth with cnm, the same one who delivered dd2...if my labour is any quicker then it was with dd2 it might wind up being UC...so I am doing a lot of research!

I am having a homebirth with a midwife and a doula/midwife apprentice. My mother and sister will also be there. This is our first baby.

Unassisted homebirth- just me, dh and the kiddos. Just as we did with my last baby.
As far as ideal...well last time I labored through the very early hours 1:45am-7:45 am, it was nice because the kids were asleep (until 7am when my son awoke and my oldest came down about 15 minutes before the birth)and the house was dark, quiet and peaceful, HOWEVER, I was ass tired so that kind of sucked although I did get to doze off between contractions. After the birth I was so high on adrenaline that I didn't even nap the whole day like I TOTALLY thought I would. So I'm not sure if my ideal would be laboring throughout the day after being fully rested, or through the night hours again. I'm excited to see when it'll happen!!

Right now planning on a birth center with CNM, but they also do home births so that is still on the table. I have until 30 weeks to decide (so I have time to get supplies) so I'm not worrying TOO much about it yet.

DD was in hospital with CNM.

ETA: also DH, MIL, my mom if she can make it, and a friend to stay with DD if she wants to be there for the birth (or take her out if she doesn't).

homebirth/midwife. Had a homebirth with ds , it was great. We will have a different m/w this time, but I am really excited about her, so i am looking forward to it.

homebirth, either with new (closer) midwives or the ones we had with dd. No doula.

Birth center w/ our midwife (same as last time). I'd love a home birth, but our insurance deems it "medically inappropriate." :

I LOVE the idea of a homebirth or birthing center, since I really want our daughter to feel that she is part of the process and because I am really committed to having a natural childbirth this time around. HOWEVER, it will be in a hospital with an OB for us. I had terrible hemorraging when we lost our angel baby, and then DD was breech and therefore a c-section, after which I also had some hemorraging. So, with my history I really need all the medical intervention stuff at my disposal, though I am still hoping that I won't need any of it! Fortunately, DH and I are good self-advocates, even under stress--we had no problem telling the nurses to p*ss off when they tried to force me to feed my DD formula and put her in the nursery, so I'm pretty confident we can do it again!
