blocked tube.

HI ladies, have any of you had a blocked fallopian tube? What was done to rectify it? I went for an HSG today and my left is blocked. I already don't ovulate on my own, and when I do ovulate (with Femara) it's always been on the left side, I have never had a follicule on the right side.
I feel like I'm doomed... it's one thing after another.

My HSG showed 2 blocked tubes, with one tube having a hydrosalpinx. My RE did a Lap to remove the hydrosalpinx and see if she could repair the other tube. The other tube was not actually blocked, but it did not have a muscular layer. So for me, IVF was the only option and I did have a successful first cycle. If my RE had been able to repair my tube, she would have put me on clomid.

Oh thank you ladies! I really hope that they can unblock mine, or make my right one work! I'm glad that you both fared well though!

Dea, it's important to find a good surgeon too. Ask around and find the most qualified person in your area. I had a ruptured tube in 1999. A few years later found that my other tube was blocked, but I was successfully treated by a local surgeon. It's really quite amazing what they can do

My HSG showed one blocked tube - most likely due to scar tissue post cesarean section. I also have scar tissue around the ovary on that side which may possibly be messing things up further. Since for me additional surgery (even if laproscopic) may muck things up further we've elected not to do anything at this point. Pursuing the lap route is our last resort.

However, I have heard of many women who have had great success in having their tubes unblocked. Also, there's no way they'll know for sure if your tube is blocked or not until they do the lap so just because at this point that's what it looks like, don't let that make you feel like you're down and out!

Thanks for the info ladies. Hopefully I won't have to go through the sugery to have it unblocked, and I will do some research into the dr. that does it at my clinic.
best wishes to you all!

I had an HSG in 1996 which showed the right tube to be completely blocked inside and out with scar tissue and the left completely open. I had three children within the next five years.
