shampoo recipe

i want to try making my own...


i'd like to use dr. bronners as a base. but using just dr.b's leaves my hair feeling dry.

what wonderful suggestions do you have?!?!

1 Cup liquid soap
1/2 Cup of Water (or aloe vera gel)
1/2 TBSP vegetalbe oil/carrior oil
10 drops of essential oils such as Lavender (Clary Sage if your hair is dry)

what essential oils do you use? I find that homemade shampoos/soaps scents don't last. what do you think?

You'll have to let us know how it works. You shouldn't need a conditioner with this recipe, though.

I would use LAvender, Chammomile etc cause I have light hair. If you have dark hair, try Lavender and Rosemary!

Just made this and used it and I love it!

It is going out as stocking stuffers for everyone.

I forgot to mention before, put it in a spray bottle and only use a little at a time. It's concentrated. You shouldn't need conditioner, but if you live in a very dry climate, you may want one.

What kind of liquid soaps are good to use in this recipe?

A liquid castiel soap would be good. I used Dr Bronners. There are others like Shadow Lakes, Jason Naturals, etc.

I'd like to try making my own liquid soap one of these days too

Any ideas on homemade conditioner?

I have really really thick hair and if I don't condition it, it just becomes a knotted mass. I tried the shampoo and like it, but I can't get a comb through my hair if I don't condition it.

conditioner AND shampoo bars

ooh, ooh me too! I have very long hair (to me bum) and I just cannot face the brush w/o conditioner. I would love to use something a little more natural. I used an egg wash once or twice and kinda liked it. But now, ds is anaphylactic to eggs (they kill him) and we just can't go having eggs in one of his fave playthings (mom's hair).
Also, have any of you ever been to Lush? A store in I swear every country but the U.S? They have lots of luscious beauty items, one of which is a shampoo bar. Shampoo in a bar--like soap. I just bought some Dr. Bronners Magic Soaps 18-in-1 Hemp Peppermint Pure castile soap. I have dark hair that is prone to flyaways.

Would that recipe work with this soap and be good for my hair? Thanks Lala!

this shampoo recipe rocks! thanks! I tried it this morning and liked it better than the terressentials i had been using(and I really liked that, plus this is sooo much cheaper). I did an ACV rinse after and was very happy with the results. I used dr. bronners peppermint castile soap, water, canola oil, and lavendar essential oils. I get dandruff so I might add some TTO to my next batch.
