OMG I have goosebumps all over! Congrats M! Very exciting!

I love the idea of 2 moms doing the co-op as a group too, if/when it's possible. I could definitely use the socializing, and the kids could too. Usually DH is the one doing childcare on weekdays, but on weeknights/weekends it would probably be him & I together.

I will try to wrap my brain around how to set up a co-op, and you guys too... then we can try it out soon and modify whatever we need to. So far I was thinking we'll all need to know each other's usual schedules (knowing there will be exceptions), and some credit system for hours.

We'll also need to know what we each will do/not do for our own kids. Like for A, I always let her decide when she goes potty (we don't ever require it unless we're about to leave the house). Maybe a list of "we always..." and "we never..." type of rules for each kid.

The co-op I read about on MDC had each family start out with 10 hours or something, and then their hours were increased/decreased with each time they used the co-op or watched someone's kids. The accounts were kept in a notebook but email would work just as well. There was one person each month (or every quarter?) who was coordinator, who monitored and arranged the childcare requests & availability, so the coordinator job was had by everyone over time.

That's all I can remember at the moment... we'll figure out the details and get something going!

Babies, babies, everywhere... there's definitely something in the water. I gave away all my baby stuff this summer and when I went home in August I told everyone we were done, lol. I've been in sweet denial for a few months, but I'm 15 weeks and showing, so I guess that's over!
Wow!!
I had a feeling... not sure what it was from~but I was wondering. I'm so happy for you! We are done, so when baby comes you'll get stuff from us

As for the co-op, I'm flexible. Whatever works for everyone else will for us too. The idea of a few of us together watching kids is a good idea! It would be great to socialize as well.

Speaking of co-ops, I was thinking about doing a co-op for Dharma. They sell play silks (undyed) and I need some dye and supplies. Would anyone be interested? The more you buy, the less they cost and shipping would be shared. Silks make a great gift, and we could even dye them at my house if you all would be interested
I am going to get a few things from Frontier... when do you want orders by, A?

P woke from his nap with a slight fever this afternoon. He seems okay so far, just tired. We may not make it to dance. A, if I won't be there perhaps I can ship you the cover to try. I want to make sure it fits before making more. It's a size medium.

Congrats M! Wow, 15 weeks. You're almost half way! I have loads of baby stuff too and I can send it your way when Abigail is done using it.

I like the babysitting co-op idea too for Evan, I don't think leaving Aiden would work out but I would love to leave E when I have to take A to doctor appts.

the wedding was lots of fun, we came home last night. It is so pretty up in anna maria island!

Thanks everyone

Right now I'm only available on weekends and most Fridays, but as I get further along and shorten my hours my schedule will open up. Since my dc's go to bed early and I have a lot of work at night, weeknights are not doable, unless someone really needs help. I don't need care for the time being, but I'd be happy to help out. We could make it more casual, ask when we need help and accept when we're available? I don't mind if I get back the hours I put in, but I'm not sure how everyone else feels. However you want to arrange the co-op I'm on board I love the idea of lists of do/don't do for each kid, and we should include allergies if there are any.

M
So that's why you have a brand spanking new glider in your living room, LOL!

I love how many new babies have been added since this little group began! We keep replenishing the pot, LOL.

I am for the co op as well, and I really don't mind about record keeping. I doubt any of us would abuse the system My best days would be Thur, Fri and Weekend AM's. We can do all the arranging by email.

DH is able to come with me to Naples on Sat! Phew! Thanks for thinking of me A.!

D- I hope baby P. feels better soon.

J- I saw the pics! Many congrats to your sis!

Nicka- good luck with the meeting! Did you just become a leader? I can't make this one, but I may in the future.

It's been just a few days off dairy and dd is in better spirits, but her skin and poo issues aren't better just yet. I'm really hoping this is it so I don't have to eliminate anything else.

Congratulations M!

Nica, congrats!! I hope your first meeting goes well, I'm not brave enough to attend with all 3 kids.

I'm ok with whatever for the babysitting co-op. It looks like A will be home from school until December so I'm free whenever (no pickups or drop offs to work around).

M- nice to 'see' you on this board! It's been a while.

N- how did the meeting go today?

J- everything ok? Is is bc Ms V is out?

G- I always wanted a glider to rock the babies and never got one. So this time I had to have one
post #2691 of 2790
I my glider!

I think the meeting went pretty well. We had some new moms (new to the group, and new to mommyhood) and a couple expectant moms, so that was really nice. It went very well with the theme (addressing breastfeeding difficulties) and I think (hope?) they had their questions addressed.

I have to shlep back up to the outlets today to return dd2's new shoes because I didn't know () that light-up shoes are not allowed at IVMS. I remembered the no-character thing, but ya know, I don't take the parent handbook with me when I go shopping, and that one I forgot. She got in trouble :sad. It's too bad, they were an incredible deal (on clearance) for cute brown mary jane sneakers; my kids have difficult feet and can't wear discount store shoes (too bad for me!). So we shop for clothes at Goodwill and shoes at Stride Rite. Anyway I'm a bit aggravated by the whole thing.

Nica, I didn't know that either. That is kind of annoying. I'm glad your meeting went well though.

M, yeah I'm pretty sure it is because Mrs. V is out. I'm keeping him home until she's back and we're doing "independent study" during that time. The principle wants him to find a new school (with a smaller classroom) but there is really no other school with a smaller classroom for him. I'm at a loss. I don't want him to have to switch schools only to go through this same thing again. It seems like this happens every few mos here.

Well, I bought hot pink duck tape and am going to cut out tiny pieces to put over the lights. That will have to do, because I'm not wasting $35 in gas to return them.

It's a beautiful day here today! Wow! Now, I'm wondering...what do people do for their pools over the cooler months? The owner of the house has a pool guy that comes around once a week but I'm just curious if the pools get covered or something. Of course, people can swim in temps in the 70's but I don't think our pool has a heater, so brrrr....

Smart lady! I wouldn't return them either considering the time & $ invested. On the pool situation, I think most people care for them year-round (though I have no first-hand experience). I rarely see them covered except long-term like if someone's moved out.

On the babysitting I think more relaxed is fine too, because as G said likely no one will abuse the "system" (whatever we make that to be). One thing I was thinking - What if we want to add another family to the group? Or should I stop thinking about "what if's"? I am such a planner I have a hard time functioning with only a basic structure set up, but I can adjust.

How about this - I will gather each of our schedules and email them to those who've expressed interest. We can each make up the dos & don'ts list, the foods/allergies list and an emergency contact list. Then we can go from there (and probably should keep it emailed instead of on the board?).

D - I hope P is feeling ok. We missed you guys at dance. I can wait on the dipe cover until next week if it works for you, no need to ship.

BTW I have not ordered Frontier. I am doing it by Monday night, no matter what! PM or email me if you want to add onto our list.
Well the duck tape didn't work (those lights are strong)! I don't know what I'm going to do. If I can't eBay them for nearly what it cost me, I am just going to figure something out with the school. Sigh.

What is Frontier?
Nicka, what size are the shoes? What kind are they? I'm sorry to hear your Dd got into trouble We are always looking for cool girly shoes Glad to hear the meeting went well! I would love to join LLL. When and where do you meet?

J~I'm sorry to hear about the school issue. I hope everything falls into place and you figure out what works! How is baby doing? I imagine she is getting so big!

G~How are you doing? I'm glad to hear C can go with you this weekend. That would make things so much easier! I hope R has fun

Aiea~I'll LYK about frontier before Monday~there are a few things we need. I'll hang onto the cover for you for next week. For the babysitting co-op, we are flexible. Our schedule is crazy sometimes, but I can narrow it down to what is most expected, as far as where we will be on what days. I'll work on a list and info to pm or email to you! Dh and I really need a night out... I miss him Thank you for organizing it, I can help with organizing it too if needed

...anyone interested in ordering playsilks from dharma?? I hope to order sometime next week. I want to dye them in time for Christmas gifts.

They are Stride Rite "Mindy" Mary Janes, size 12M (little girls). They are dark chocolate brown with pink flowers, really cute.

Someone *pretty please* clue me in on what Frontier is?
Frontier is awesome. It is wholesale prices for all of the things you get at health foods stores (homeopathics, organics, washes, teas, etc) most health foods stores use Frontier to buy their items from. I think A posted a link upthread, open it up and you can check out their items and prices. The prices are really good! The catalog is massive though, try using the search feature if you are looking for something in particular.

Oh, those are a tad too big V wears a size 7.5 or 8 at the most. I'm sorry :/

Did you find the frontier link? It is a few posts up. I'll be ordering some bulk herbs and a few other things (deodorant, toothpaste and maybe a few homeopathics).
