PG and working in a dental office...... what are my risks?

We just found out we are expecting our first child!

I work as a receptionist for a dentist. We would prefer to wait a while before breaking the news to anyone. However, I am thinking that maybe I should tell my boss and co-workers? I really don't know what the radiation risks are at all.

I am in the front office, but I do go in the back constantly for a variety of tasks.... seating patients, relaying messages, perio charting, etc.... The bathroom is back there too! I'm thinking it might be good for the people at work to know... just so they are extra careful when I am back there.

Any advice? We would prefer to wait to announce the baby, but do you think it is wise to let the office know?

(I do not plan to return - so discussing leave with my boss is not an issue)

I worked in a dental office for 8 years. I don't believe there is much risk in what you are doing. The radiation in dental x-rays is very low and you're not in the room when the x-rays are taken. My old boss, a dentist, was pregnant with 3 kids and worked up to her due date all 3 times. Several hygienists and assistants were also pregnant and had no problems. I don't believe there is much risk unless you are directly exposed to the x-rays daily.
