Unexpected (totally!) pregnancy problem??

I am off to the doctor's for (of all things) my foot! I am a total weird-o. I can't JUST be sick and tired. I must make sure everything else hurts.

Check out the thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=653597

One mama says the same thing happened to her due to pregnancy hormones. That makes perfect sense to me since I've had pain for a while, but now it's worse.

It also makes sense since when I am pregnant, my feet grow 1/2 size (and never return) and I am already up to a size 12 now! All the hormones that stretch the pelvic area also stretch the feet.

Wish me luck, I am off.

Wow. I hope the appt. goes well. If you have to have an x-ray, ask for a digital x-ray as they have a lot less radiation than traditional x-rays. They should also still cover you up with a lead apron. Have you tried compression socks and a lace up shoe with lots of support? (I'm guessing you've probably tried it all at his point...) Also, a custom made orthotic might help maintain the arches (3) of your feet during pregnancy since those ligaments stretch too, as you well know!

OT, how are your HB plans coming along?

Good luck with your foot appointment! I hope it's nothing serious.

I wish my feet would grow with each pregnancy. Instead, they seem to be shrinking! I wear a size 4 - 5.5, depending on the shoe brand. I hate shoe shopping! Not much selection when you have small feet!

Anyway, hope all goes well.

Because I am a big girl, the doc isn't too pleased that I didn't come to him before starting an exercise program. Yah whatever, I am just walking. But apparently it's the walking that did me in.

He doesn't want me to walk and I have to wear a specific shoe for at least 6 weeks, every second I am awake AND if I get up to pee in the middle of the night. After that, for at least 6 months, almost exclusively.

Apparently I am too active for my own feet and am too big for them too. I have Plantars Fasciitis, he says, though I STILL wonder if there isn't a stress fracture in there.

I need to buy $180 pair of stiff soled men's hikers and an exercise bike to do 50 minutes a day on. *sigh* No walking unless it's a ten minute trip to the park where I can sit and let my kids play and then walk back.

I would just ignore the shoe thing, but my foot hurts SO bad. I don't even WANT to see what these hikers will look like. It's bad enough that I have huge feet, but now I have to wear ugly hikers. Blahhh...
