First appointment!

: I really like my doctor, and I know my history makes me kind of high risk, but I think she might be a little bit overboard this time.

It was a standard first OB visit... asked me 8 million questions, did a quick internal, urine sample, and sent me for bloodwork. Didn't bother with the doppler since I'm only 8 wks.

Went down to the lab and holy *(&^. They drew 9 or 10 vials of blood, I lost count! I had asked for 1 additional test, and she added what I thought was 1, but I swear it must have been more, I don't think I've ever had to do more than 3-4 vials for standard prenatal stuff.

And she wants me in for an u/s next week. I tried explaining the little twinges of pain I've been having several different ways. I'm fairly sure it's just my scar (c-section) stretching. But all she heard was pain, which apparently in doctor-speak means cramps, which means get in for an ultrasound ASAP. I'm not arguing about this one, because I have been a little paranoid about this pregnancy, and I'd like to see the heartbeat. But I hope this doesn't continue, I really want to stick to this one, and the one around 20wks. If she wants another one before then, there better be a damn good reason, or I'll turn it down.

I also had to turn down the bag o' "goodies" from Similac. The nurse was all surprised that I had left it behind, and I just flat out told her I breastfeed and didn't want the formula ads and the last thing I need by kid #4 is another diaper bag.

Hooray for first appointments!

We didn't get any formula stuff yet, but I remember it coming in the mail shortly after giving birth. So annoying.

I got 10 vials of blood drawn on my first appointment too! Thank goodness all the blood work came back normal.

I was also offered all the new mommy stuff but refused it. It'll only collect dust at my house.

Hopefully those pains will go away.
