Question regarding mucus and labor

I just lost most or all of my mucus plug and it was blood tinged. I've never experienced this before...does blood mean that labor will be starting soon?

I have heard that if there is blood it is more likely to be sooner, but it is still anyone's guess how soon that will be... (hopefully someone else has a more definitive answer...)

Maybe. But maybe not. Sorry there's not a hard and fast rule about it! I'm just starting to lose some mucus, but it's not blood-tinged.

If you have red blood in the mucus, it's associated with cervical change -- your cervix is very vascular at the end of pregnancy, rich with capillaries, and for some people, those changes break some capillaries - so blood comes out. This doesn't necessarily mean labor, but it does mean your cervix is making all the subtle changes necessary to prepare for a baby leaving the womb!

Thanks for the info! I started having ctx. about an hour after and they haven't let up yet! They are pretty strong but not regular. I think this is it...FINALLY! If this stops I am going to break things..lol

I'm gonna say it's a 50/50 chance. I lost my plug on Wed, with blood...and still nothing. Random ctx here and there....LOADS of BH, but nothing real active.

Good sign, but the contractions are a more reliable sign.

Ive been losing mucos on and off for weeks, but none of it blood tinged. Im no help, but the contractions sound hopeful! Heres hoping!!
