Do extension cords draw phantom power?

I am wanting to rearrange my kitchen, but I only have one outlet. Right now the microwave and coffee maker are on a power strip so that they aren't drawing power all day, everyday; we just turn on the strip when we want to use them. But, they are positioned right next to the outlet.

I'd like to move them to the other side of the room. Ideally, the power strip will remain right next to the cupboard they sit upon, as dh is more likely to continue making use of the strip (i.e. shutting it OFF when he's done) than if it is across the room from the appliances.

But if I run a heavy duty extension cord over to the cupboard and then plug in the power strip, will that cord be drawing power all day?

TIA!

the extension cord will not pullpower by itself. So long as you flip the switch on the power strip their will not be any phantom loads on that outlet
