If DS1 had been a girl, he would have been Katie and DD is Katie. I really wanted Katie Scarlett, which is Scarlett O'Haras name (she went by her middle name!) but DH nixed the Scarlett part. My mom really wanted me to use her mothers name somehow but it was Ida Mae and Katie Mae was just too country for me, so we went with Katie Lyn (Lyn is my middle name). Now people think she is Katilyn but no, its Katie Lyn. DS2's name has always been picked by DH, its the reverse of his (INstead of Charles Todd, he is Todd Charles, so named after DAddy but not a junior). I had also really liked Joshua but DH nixed it too. Yeah, we both get veto rights, so we have to find a name we both like. We bothed nixed a LOT of names. Troys name too so long to pick I was begining to think we wouldnt have one until after he was born!!

What state do you live in? I'm sure there are a lot of confusing ones.

If you wanted to make the posts last, ...you could spell it out for me...one letter at a time and I'll try to guess...

Donna, we never had a "carry over" name either.

Except, I have always wanted to name my daughter some version of Kate/Katey/Katelyn etc. But it just never felt right with any of the other kids, so it was not ever a consideration. This time I don't feel any resistance to it, so it might be an option!

My mom thought we should have gone with Katherine and called her Katie, but I wanted to name her what I was going to call her. Im just weird like that. Though now I realize she may not want to be a Katie when shes 30, but Kate is certainly an option. I sometimes shorten it to that now!

I understand.

I like Katey, but I'm not thrilled with the full name options (Katherine, Katelyn, etc). My hang up is one of *my* rules is a long formal name with a shorter nickname. So I don't know if I should just go with Katey, or give her a more grown up name and call her what I want. :

Well, is there another name Katey is short for? Like Katrina maybe? Katerina?
