Has anyone bought bags from here: Go-Again Bags

Would you recommend going somewhere else instead?

I was thinking about purchasing some, but thought I would ask first.

Thanks!

You also might try to go to your local thriftstore and find tote bags there.

I second this.

I've never heard of those before, but they look good. The price is unbelievable (I've bought mine from reusablebags.com and some co-ops here and I've never seen any that cheap that are that large!). It didn't say anything about what material it's made of, or what the weight limit of each bag is, but I think they would work great. I seriously can't believe you can get 10 for $10 or 20 for $20. That's sooo much less than most cloth bags. I wonder if the quality is good?

Go-Again Bags

Hi everyone. My wife started this company (Go-Again Bags) because she got so tired of all the plastic bags being wasted everywhere.

We stumbled upon similar bags while traveling in Australia last year. We bought some and continued using them upon our return trip to the US. Every time we brought them to the store, we got inquiries about where we bought them. And, every time we said "Australia", everyone sighed because there was not an economical local source for them.

Anyway, long story short, these bags are very similar to those used in Australia and elsewhere. My wife's goal is to "clean the environment, not your wallet" which explains our reasonable prices. Similar bags sell at Whole Foods for $3.50 each, which we think is way too much.

Sorry if this appears as SPAM. It's not intended as such. I just wanted to get the facts out there. I manage my wife's website (www.go-againbags.com) and found this thread because it linked to our site.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions about our bags!

Thanks,

Noel @ Go-Again Bags

I don't know where you live, but if there is a Kroger in your state, I bought their shopping bags for only $1 each. I now live where there is only Publix, but their's are $5. I don't think you can beat $1. I love them. They are sturdier, therefore they hold more, therefore you don't have to take as many trips to bring the groceries in.

Thanks for the info. Great story of getting inspired and doing something great for the environment.

I thought I'd post some info I receive from emailing Noel last night. It contains a little more detail than is on their website >>>>email follows>>>>

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your interest in our bags. The weight limit is about 30 pounds. Usually the deciding factor on how much we put into our bags is the amount of weight we are comfortable carrying, not the limitation of the bags themselves. Our bags can easily carry 2 one-gallon milk jugs (17 pounds), or 6 two-liter soda bottles (~26 pounds).

Go-Again Bags are made our of non-woven polypropylene. It's the same material that is used in many other applications, such as yogurt containers and medical clothing and devices. Here is a good article that discusses some of the other benefits of PP: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-polypropylene.htm

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Best Regards,
Noel Reuter
Go-Again Bags

Hope that helps someone! Seems like a reasonably priced and decent product, plus it would be recyclable when it reaches it's end of life. Just my 2 cents.

wow! Thanks for all the info, ladies. I found out our local community garden is selling reusable bags as a fundraiser, so I picked up some from them. I really like them (of course, I haven't tried anything else). Here is the link if anyone is interested: http://1bagatatime.com

I think the go-again bags look like a great option if you will be keeping them in the car, or if you carry a large purse or diaper bag anyway.

Personally I'm transporting things on foot these days so I prefer bags that can be folded up really really small (so they fit in my purse easily) and that have long handles, so I can carry them over my shoulder like a tote bag. I always end up buying heavy things that are hard to carry with the short-handled bags.

Of course, the kind of bags I want are expensive...

If these are the same as we have in Australia, then they're very good. I prefer calico personally, but these sit open for packing and are better for fragile things. And of course, they are CHEAP!

Weight-wise I can easily put 3-4 2 L milk cartons in them or a dozen cans.

They last a while, too. One of mine has ripped and one has stitching coming undone and I've been using them non-stop for roughly 7 years or so.
