Toddler regression when new baby comes

DD1 is 2.5, DD2 is 2 months old. I know it is normal for the older sibling to “regress” and want to be the baby etc when a new baby arrives.

DD1 is doing all of the things I’ve read about. The little bit of potty learning we had managed has gone. She is constantly calling herself a baby. She wants to drink from bottles (DD2 gets breast milk in bottles when I’m at work), and she has appropriated a pacifier. She gets very very upset when she can’t find the pacifier.

So, how long does this “regression” last usually? Any way to get her to drop the pacifier?

Thanks!

It should be just about over. our ds2 is 3 months now, and ds1 just decided to start wearing underwear this week and started referring to ds2 as the baby and himself as the boy. just make sure your older child is getting lots of affection and positive reinforcement and it should wear off soon. in the meantime, hang in there. it sure is frustrating in the moment.
