my house burned down...

Thread Starter
thought I would post an update since I am obviously not going to have much access. Yesterday, while Luke and I were at my mom's and dh was home sleeping the house caught fire. Thankfully the fire alarm awoke dh, but it was already too late. We have lost pretty much everything. Waiting on the insurance adjuster to get everything figured out and get started on starting over. We will be staying at my mother's house, right now we are at the in-laws but I am about to go insane. Mom is getting everything ready and has happily aggreed to hosting our homebirth(the in-laws aren't even aware of this and would be majorly opposed). I am hoping to get out to mom's by this evening so I can relax and prepare for labor(I am 39 weeks today). Not very surprisingly I have been having tons of contractions, I have asked the baby to hold off until we at least get to mom's. The mw thankfully has a birthkit and we bought a new pool today. It has been especially tough on Luke who has had everybody yelling at him and isn't sleeping well and of course dh are trying to be there for him, but there is a lot going on right now. I couldn't sleep but a couple hours last night, so plan to take a benadryl tonight to hopefully get some rest I am so far past the point of exhaustion and stress I have got to get caught up. So, if you happen to pray we could use some here. It of course is going to take a bit to sink in- but as we will likely be without a home for 6 mo we will have plenty of time for it to sink in.. We have had lots of help and support so are fortunate. Will be thinking of all of you even if you don't hear from me.

Not in your DDC but I saw this and had to reply. Huge hugs to you, Mama. Not that there is ever a good time for something like this to happen, but for it to happen right now when you're about to go into labor seems especially unfair. Thank goodness your mom is open to hosting your homebirth! I hope everything goes beautifully with the new baby.

oh my god crunchy mama. I am so so very sorry to hear this. My mouth dropped when I saw the title. Why's everyone yelling at Luke? Is everyone just frustrated right now and losing patience with him?

I'm glad you are all ok, and you have somewhere to stay. You'll be in my thoughts

Oh, goodness.

I am so sorry that you and your family have to go through this right now.

I'll be thinking of you and your poor son.

Maybe someone could take him to a movie or give him some "special" time to give him a break?

Hoping things look up for you soon.....

Oh that's terrible! I'm so sorry to hear this happened to your family! At least you are all safe and you have family around to help out... I hope your baby stays put until you are ready to deliver and your other little one gets more comfortable with your living arrangements for the next while...

Take care
