I'm not expert, but I have been following and absorbing as much as possible since just after TM time last year, and it goes both ways - specific is good, but can be bad if it leaves too little room for the universe (god, nature, great spirit, etc) to have creative room to provide. i.e. an example someone used was putting a man on her map because she wanted a mate, and she got one, but he was ambivalent about wanting to be with her, so next year she put that she wanted one who would stay and they married but ended up miserable and divorced because he didn't really want to stay (against his will, sort of) or another example was someone who puts the idea of DH getting a job at XYZ company and then is miserable (and makes the family miserable) because he hates the job or works ALL the time or something. so it's about the end result qualities but you can't be tied up in the means.
you want a reciprocally fulfilling relationship (vs. a man who stays) or a job for DH that provides well enough and makes him feel happy and fulfilled (instead of at some specific company making a certain amount).
so your birth wishes seem to work from what I have gotten out of all the posts so far, i would leave out details such as vaginal and vertex and leave just the qualities.

I put it as the background on the desktop. I was thinking of printing it out too, though. Either as pieces to put up on the wall where last year's map is or to bind it to carry with me in my purse as someone mentioned in the previous thread. I haven't decided yet.

Go with what speaks to you. If your gut says you need to ask for all of that, then put it on there. If you feel that it's pretty well covered by requesting something more general like joy, then go with that. It's up to you. Your thoughts and intention are what counts. What images mean to you. Does that help?

A few people have mentioned they were having a hard time starting, or were having generally bad moods. I just wanted to say that it may be because your subconscious realizes that in order to receive the things you are wishing on your Treasure Map, you will have to go through some pain first. Such as the person who asks for being fulfilled in her job, and then gets fired a week later. It hurts and is hard, but then 2 months later she is offered her dream job. . . she needed to lose the job she had to get her dream job. So some people will find this year that they are headed for divorce (to get the right relationship) or foreclose on their home (to move to the perfect place), etc. Sometimes you face bad times to get your life where it should be. I don't want to deter anyone from making their map, but just wanted to give you a "heads up" of why you may be feeling the way you do.

You just need to remember, as you're slogging through the crap, that the universe does indeed have great things in store for you.

A little discussion about Instinct and Trust and going for it...

I wanted to offer up some thoughts about Aries which may help those who are struggling a bit with their treasure maps.

As I indicated, Aries is really a very, very instinctual sign. It moves on what it feels-- but when I say feelings that is not to be confused with emotions. If you want emotions go to the water signs...(cancer,scorpio,pisces)..the feelings of Aries are really more about instincts.

And instincts are vital. We as moms know that. At the same time, Aries are very busy on this planet carving a separate identity. And I think this can be troubling for some of us because we are very connected to our family. And where is the "I" in family? well, technically between the m and l but that is not what I'm saying. I'm saying that if some of you are really hitting a wall, it may because you are wondering how to find your own identity. And all I can say is --don't over think this...just start some where. You don't have to go crazy . just start somewhere. Don't worry... you won't lose your family.. you won't get sucked into somethign that will take you away.. .. but you really need to carve out your place. If only for these 3 days. You can go back and be mom/family/etc for the rest of the year.. just put up something that calls to YOU.

I worked for a big shot Aries for a period of time. He really was all about number 1. Kind of a lame. But here is the deal... by being focused on himself we all worked hard to take care of him and in truth he was taking care of so many more people than us. He had legions of people who really benefited by his work. So, he was about himself..but by being about himself, he was about others... weird dance. But very aries. And his instincts were what guided him. And continue to do so..

Another thing about instincts...

I read something today in Vanity Fair that made me think of Treasure Mapping and instincts and trusting and moving on it... it was a small passage about the people who live on Andaman and Nicobar Islands which is in the area near Sri Lanka where the ASian Tsunami took place.

Here is what caught my eye... " Many in the tribes had survived. They had lived on the islands for 50,000 years. In profound harmony with nature, they noticed subtle changes in the behavior of birds and fish before the tsunami. The speech continued, "These warning signs are woven into their folklore. And they responded immediately, moving quickly to higher ground and the shelter of the forest. Such people do not observe the world from the outside, they consider themselves participants in and divine life on earth as sacred presence, they also take direct responsibility for the future."

those tribes people are very clear on their instincts.

In a similiar manner, we are all responsible for our future.. look to your world, what subtle changes are taking place.. what do you need?

I love the pp who said, "We need a new king size bed." God, how perfect is that...and at the same time, there was another treasure mapper on another thread at another sight who put up a photo of an artichoke. I have no idea what that means to that person, but I love that it called to them. I'm sure I could come up with something.. sharp thorns protect the tasty interior..makes me think they need a little wall this year.. but I don't know. I just know let the instincts guided and they moved on it! Trust.

On my lunch break today, I went and bought several magazines. When I got home, I sat down and started flipping and cutting. I have worked for 3 1/2 hours straight and needed a break! I am only halfway through the magazines I bought, but am probably done for tonight.

This is the first time I am doing a Treasure Map, so wasn't sure what to expect. I have to remind myself not to edit -- a couple of times, I was attracted to an image, but didn't cut it out for some reason. When I realized I had done that, I went back and cut them out. I may not use them when I assemble the map, but I don't want to edit myself before that.

I am finding myself attracted to images with a lot of green and water -- rivers surrounded by emerald green trees, a waterfall falling over moss covered rocks, skunk cabbage with rain beaded on the leaves. I am feeling peace when I look at these images. I am so grateful for this because my recollection is that green and water together are strong images for wealth and financial abundance and, although we are not struggling financially, I have never had this sense of peace that I am experiencing when looking at these images.

I found a great picture of a mattress!!!

I wanted to share some of the affirmations I have cut out of magazines. I think all of these came from two sources -- O Magazine and The Nature Photographer. Although they may be cut out of the middle of sentences or longer quotes, the phrases appeared in the magazine exactly as I am quoting them here.

Karen, I am in the similar situation. I bought all these GREAT mags and just spent probably 3-4 hours going through them and am exhausted. I thought I was going to be able to put it together tonight but I think soon I will be ......




Funny, I have been barely cutting out images and mostly cutting out words and phrases. Can you tell I am a Gemini....I need words to say how I feel! So I had to consciously stop and look at images and decide if they were pleasing to me b/c I do want some colorful eye candy. I actually splurged on the 2007 sky and telescope that has the years top photos of astronomical phenomenon. So I think I will use a lot of pictures of stars, planets and other Universal images around my phrases.

This is it! I don't know what "I" want this year! I've pick some images, words and affirmations, I've print a check (but can't decide on a figure nor a date to put on it ), but it feels more "intellectual" than "instinctual" : and I'm kind of lost...

DH doesn't work tomorrow so I will get some time alone to work on my Map before we have to leave to drive DD1 to the airport for her two weeks UK's adventure!

Now I need to rest... DD2 have been really clingy today and I'm feeling worn out...

wanted to say hello. i have been following along for a while sorting out my own mind. the last few months have brought some amazing things through some great challenges and i am so excited to be doing this. first time.

so i picked up some magazines today and found things i wouldn't have guessed, funny thing is the one that popped into my mind last week as a good one to try has been pretty lacking. the ones I didn't know existed have just been awesome.

I think I would put it in the center of the map or in the children and creativity area since it probably brings out your inner child--as it is fun.
