Family DO will not take new baby if I don't vax

My family DO has cared for DD since birth. We vaxed once didn't feel comfortable and stopped. She assured us that while she doesn't agree, she would not, Not see us due to our opinions and would continue to care for our DD. Well we went ahead did a religious exemption alls well. Today I call to find out what Ped we should use for rounds at the hospital and she informs me that due to liability she will not be taking on anymore "unvaxed" children. I'm not asking her for a medical exemption. I'm using a religious exemption. Isn't this some sort of violation of my religious rights for her to refuse my future children care? I don't understand how she can just be like OH when you give birth you're on your own unless you agree to let me stick your kid. WTF I"m livid.

If there are other doctors available to you and she gives you notice of 60 days, she is within her rights. Sorry though. It's horrible.

sounds like it is time to find a new doctor

I believe exemptions are just for school entry, not for doctors' visits.

Personally, I'd skip trying to find a pediatrician. Peds are doctors that specialize in the health and diseases of children. They generally begin to be less interested when their patients have hit puberty!!

Go for a family practice physician instead. They are generally waaaaaaaaay more agreeable regarding vaccination decisions. Added bonus, they will, generally, stay your family doctor for as long as you desire.

This is a family doctor; a DO, too!

I thought the OP was looking for a Ped (that's what she posted):

I assumed Ped means Pediatrician. :

She is, but she called her DO for a referral. Now that I'm rereading it I'm not sure if the DO "fired" her or said the Ped she referred to wasn't taking anymore unvaxed children : .

I think she sees a DO, but was calling to find out what ped to have see her baby when it is born in the hospital. (I'm assuming the DO doesn't do rounds at the hospital she's delivering at.)

If she is getting a referral for a ped for HSO (hospital stay only), then it shouldn't matter if you vax or not. Just refuse Hep B, say you will take care of it with your regular doc when you get out of the hospital.

At least that is how it worked when I was working as an OB nurse.

Wait, re reading her original post, I think she is saying her DO will no longer take unvaxed kids..........so does that mean the DO wont see her oldest anymore either?

Think it time to find a new doc

We dont bother finding a dr.

The only time we need one is in case of emergency and when you go to the ER you get whoever is one call.

We havent been hassled about no vaccines for the 3 trips to the ER we have had.

The only way I'm going to the ER is in an ambulance. It always takes hours of waiting. Sometimes I need a doc for UTI's I can't treat, otherwise we go to the urgent care clinic that is attached to a hospital for "urgent" things.

I am very selective about the DOs I see. Many DOs do not subscribe to osteopathic medical philosophy; it was simply the medical school they got into. Some of them went to their particular school because it was the one closest to home. Seriously. These DsO are often embarrassed to be osteopaths, and some of them admit that they would have prefered to be MDs. I don't go to those doctors myself.

The best doctors that I have ever had have been DsO, but only those that practice actual osteopathy. If a DO doesn't advertise that he or she does osteopathic manipulation, I move on. Decide for yourself:

For the anti-osteopathic position (with which I disagree):

YES this is what happened. That is when I was informed by her nurse that she won't take the baby. She wont terminate care of DD but she wont see our new baby.
