positioning, again.

i thought i was all set. at my 28 week appt the midwife said the baby was head down. in puerto rico she was kicking my ribs and punching my crotch. i had pelvic soreness, like a bowling ball was about to come out of my butt. i began to waddle from time to time. but, at least she was head down.

THEN, this weekend she went totally transverse, and now i have NO idea which way she is. sunday morning she was kicking, punching each side of me--totally in a baby hammock (sp?). now i just can't tell which end is up. i think maybe she's diagonal, but is her head up or down? not sure.

she has also had the hiccups a lot. 2-3 times a day. is that from practice breathing? is that okay?

i have been on spinningbabies.com but i was looking for any words of wisdom or sympathy from you all. why did she move out of position? i'm 30 weeks this week, and i read that after 32 it becomes harder to move b/c of less room, so i feel i'm on a time crunch with her. i was told that once they're head down, they don't normally change position. argh! this little one already has her own agenda!

I'm 33.5 weeks preggo and my not-so-little one is all over the place too. Mostly she's been diagonally transverse (I think) but sometimes she/he goes vertex, especially after I spend the night sleeping on my left side and being mindful of my posture. I started freaking out about this *after* reading spinningbabies, right around 28 weeks... I'm starting to lighten up about it; I'm just doing the best I can to promote good positioning but the baby ultimately decides where he/she wants to be. The strain of worrying about it was having a negative effect on my mood and making me feel resentment towards the baby.

Hiccups are totally normal albeit annoying . My baby gets them several times a day.

I don't know if my words count as wisdom but you definatly have my sympathy

No advice, just to say I have had the exact same thing happen. I'm also 30 weeks, and the baby had been head down until last Friday.

I'm just trying to watch my posture, frequently do downward dog type yoga moves, and meditate on the baby being head down.

I've also looked into local chiros that are certified in the webster technique, if this isn't resolved by my 32 wk appt. I'm attempting to not worry too much unless it persists to 35+ weeks. The baby flipped so quickly on me, that I'm hoping the little one will just as quickly flip back.

I think I may have posted this several times on this board, so forgive me if I'm repeating...

My first was breech my entire pregnancy, and I tried everything out there - elephant walking, dog/cat poses, pelvic tilts, shoulder stands, frozen peas, flashlight, music, even moxibustion.

We also tried two attempts at ECV.

Nothing turned my babe until I saw a chiropractor in my 38th week. DD turned that day/night, and my C section days later was cancelled.

Don't let anyone convince you that your baby is unturnable after a certain time. Babies can turn in labor!

Just think positively, and start taking actions NOW to improve your babe's ability to turn heads down.

Glooby is currently breech at 30.5 weeks. I'm not worried yet!

My acupuncturist wouldn't want to take action until 35 weeks. However, she is prepared in case I need help turning the baby then.

My chiropractor doesn't do the Webster technique, but she's calling around now to find someone, in case I need it. HOWEVER, since many babies are in the "wrong" position due to tight ligaments and other misalignments in mom's body, I will be seeing my chiro weekly from now on, even though it could mean I run out of $10 co-pay covered sessions (I get 12 per year) and have to pay it all out-of-pocket myself. Frankly, she gave me so much relief during my last pg from my discomforts, I'd planned to see her weekly at the end anyway!

Both ladies (my acupuncturist and my chiro) first made sure I hadn't been "freaked out" by an over-zealous doctor when I called them Tuesday. My midwives aren't too concerned--they just want me start gently trying some of the helpful postures. I am very pro-active and need to have care lined up ahead of time to help myself avoid freaking out if it really does start to look urgent.

At 33 wks my twins are still moving like crazy in spite of weighing nearly 5 lbs each. Midwife and OB have said it's way too early to be concerned.
