Good audio books for 5yo??

My 5yo goes to daycare two afternoons a week. Unfortunately, he is there during naptime, but doesn't want to sleep. The teachers let him play quietly but insist that he stay on his cot while doing so. He would like to bring a CD player with headphones and some audio books that he can listen to, with books he can follow along with. Any recommendations?

Amazon.com has some of the Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones books on CD, but DS would like some CDs that have picture books with them (or we could get the books separately) so he can follow along with the pictures. (He's a pre-reader, so I don't think following along with the Magic Tree House books would be much fun because there are so few pictures.) Music CDs would also be good if they come with a songbook with pictures. He has some Wee Sing CDs that come with little song books with line drawings on each page, and he really likes those.

Any recommendations for CDs with books??

I'm sure that you've thought of this, but your local library probably has a wide selection of picture books with cd's. Our library has a rack of them in special hanging bags. You could also try scholastic.com.

My ds did not care for the Magic Treehouse books on tape. He has enjoyed My Father's Dragon and Charlotte's Web.

My DS (4yrs) loves the Greathall Productions books on CD. The have some for all age groups. Most don't come with books but are entertaining enough without them. They do have a few with books if you prefer them. Hope this helps. www.greathall.com
