washing boppy?

i let my sil use my boppy last year and let's just say she's not on board with cleaning and what not.i know it's been laying all over her floor and the dog has been on it,ewww! anywho, i'm wodering if i can throw it in my washing machine without it losing it's shape,anyone know? oh,btw,it will fit my washing machine is fairly new so it has no agitator in it.

I've washed mine - liner & inside, in my washing machine, with an agitator. I think it's important to wash all pillows periodically - particularly if you don't have dust mite covers for them.

So yeah, go ahead & throw it in there... might have to reshape a bit after the drier, but should be fine.

I just washed mine earlier this week and had no issues. It's sort of like a bed pillow... it gets a little lumpy. I've been letting DS lay on it and that's mashed it down. LOL

I think most fiber-fill products wash up okay. Drying is usually more dangerous than washing, I think.

Actually I can even wash my down pillows in my front-loader. Oh, how I love my washing machine...

I have a few tennis balls that I use for washing/drying pillows. I just toss them in the washer and dryer with the pillow. They get tossed around and hit the pillow - helping prevent lumpy pillow syndrome. It sounds a bit weird, but it works.

I've washed mine too, no problems, even with a machine that has an agitator. I did put it on a gentle cycle, IIRC, to reduce the chances that the agitator would mess it up. It is a was a tiny bit lumpy, but that's it.

This reminds me that I have to wash my Boppy -- it was my footrest while I was nursing ds the last few months before we weaned!

I got a pair of lumpy "dryer balls" from Walgreens for about $7 that act like tennis balls in the dryer. (I'm too paranoid to put tennis balls in because I'm afraid they will melt. )

I use them on all my laundry in the dryer because they are supposed to soften the fibers a bit (I don't use chemical fabric softener.)

I washed my boppy too, and I washed it often. I had mine through 2 kids so for about 6 years or so. I went to get it from storage and there was a box on top of it so I just pulled. My poor boppy tore into two pieces and the material was so thread bare I couldn't sew it back together. I bought a "new" boppy on e-bay and washed it. Just so you're aware after multiple washes and several years it does get weak, but I do highly recommend washing it. I like that my "new" one has a slip cover now so I only have to wash that.

What about the sleep positioner an incline. You know how it's made of that spongy material? It was a part of an infant bassonet someone is lending to us. First we washed the cover but my husband who is a Lysol disinfectant freak sprays all the insides and we leave it out to air for a day or so before putting it into the covers. I on the other hand hate the chemical stuff... What do you guys think. Is it fine or should I soak it in the wash like the boppy.
