Wow!! I thought I was brave for wanting a home birth!

I am thinking about a UC. My last birth was a homebirth with a midwife... and ideally that's what I'd like again. But, we are livng in China, so my only options are icky hospital, possibly finding a midwife who'd travel here for way more than we can pay, or UC. So UC looks pretty good. Not worried so much about the birth as the post-partum support... my midwife did a fabulous job helping me adjust after my dd was born. We'll see what ends up happening. I'll probably do some prenatals at the local hospital so they know who I am...

Anyone else?!

Yep, Thinking about it.
Its not the financial factor - we have insurance that covers pretty much everything - midwives included.

I believe I may go to a midwife for prenatal, and see how things go from there.
I am seriously considering it, but want to be 100% on board before making such a decision.

It is one of the possibilities I am considering. It all depends on how easy it will be to find a midwife that will support me in my homebirth choice. I hear that some midwives here like to say you are not a "good candidate" for homebirth if you fall in some categories, and I fall in 3 (have had many children before, have asthma, above ideal weight...)

I was considering it. A friend of mine even had her husband get us a birth kit from the fire department, but I am not going to do it unless it just happens. If something went wrong I couldn't forgive myself. When my twins were in the NICU it was a hard time and it has affected me and my decisions so even though it is tempting I don't think we will do it. I am blessed that I found a hospital and midwife willing to do everything I want anyways.

no way....i have too many issues, and i've also had a preemie. so, no LOL

I'll be considering it from the next one. My DS was a premature hospital induction by overzealous Doctor-bullies. This one is going to be a homebirth, barring any unforseen circumstances. Once I have one successful homebirth under my belt, I'll start seriously considering a UC.

I'm tentatively thinking about it.. I really liked my birthing center experience with the last one but this time we don't have insurance and I'm not sure we can afford it. Probably not the best reason to UC.. I doubt we'll go that route though.. we'll probably scrimp and dip into our savings to pay for the midwives ... for either a homebirth or at the center.

I'm definitely planning a hb and toying with the idea of UC. Or at least a very "hands off" mw. I've got another 8 mos to research and decide, lol!

Nope. I may attempt a VBAC in the hospital, but will probably just let my doc schedule a C/S as late as humanly possible.

No. I'm not even doing a homebirth this time. But I have a midwife that I really like and I trust her to respect my wishes regarding my birth.

yup, this will be my second UC.

We are, but we are not UP'ing. I called and set up our midwife today.

I'm another that will be considering it with the next one. Since my last homebirth was unsuccessful, it's importnant to me to cross that hurdle this time, and from there we'll highly consider UC if all goes well.

I'm planning a UP and UC.

I wouldn't mind having some pre and post natal care with a mw actually, but then I am putting them in a bad legal position by not calling themfor the birth so I won't be doing that. Birth is very political in BC (and Canada).

If I decide I need anything (blood tests etc) I think I'll just go to an nd.

planning a UP/UC, we had a UC last time dont see any reason not to do it again. i did see a midwife for a few prenatals last time, mostly to make my husband happy. theres really nothing they can do for me that i cant do for myself, other than i dont own an ultrasound machine and the only reason i'd use one is i'd sorta like to know the sex lol (didnt find out for the first two and i have two boys and would looveeee to know if tihs is a girl lol)
