3 y.o hitting parents b/c of new sibling issues

I just finished Unconditional Parenting, and loved it, but am finding it difficult to come up with a solution that is non-punitive for my son's hitting and throwing. I have a new baby girl (1 month today) and I feel like I can't sit and talk things through if I am nursing her and my son starts throwing things at me or hitting me.

I feel that he has actually been getting more attention since she was born, although the balance from me to my husband has shifted somewhat. He is affectionate towards the baby, so that is good-- but I am really tired of his violence directed at me. Help!

PS- I am not a new member, just can't get into my old account, and no one at MDC will respond to my emails about it, so I re-registered under a different name!

We're in the same boat here... DD is three months now and DS is finally seeming to reach maximum jealousy (I hope!)

Throwing, hitting, running away, screeching....

What a combination of age and new sibling!

I look forward to hearing what other seasoned pros have to say
