Let the swelling begin - Page 2

Lunaleau,

My midwife suggested alfalfa tabs, because although I don't look like I'm swelling, I can feel tightness in my fingers (wedding ring is off!) and a little in my toes certain times of the day.

The alfalfa is a blood-builder and also helps to balance where the body holds the extra fluid. More in the blood, less in the tissues is good. It's a nutritious supplement, not a drug and you can take upwards of 16-20 per day if necessary.

I'm sure someone with a more scientific and/or nutrition background can explain it better.

The two things that really helped me that I haven't seen mentioned yet are flax seed (2 tbsp/day) and either wearing socks or going barefoot ... it seems like just wearing shoes makes my feet swell worse.
