Getting a doula for a friend??

Hi everyone,
I have a friend who is preg. and lives in another state. Would it be taboo to offer to pay for a doula for her birth? I know getting a doula is a personal choice so I am wondering what you doulas think. She really has no family help and no close friends around either.

I personally think that it is a wonderful idea to pay for a doula for a friend. I wish more people had friends like you! I would find a way to ask your friend if it is something that she would appreciate, and make sure that she knows that she can say no iwithout offending youf she isn't comfortable with the idea. Especially if she doesn't have family or friends that she can depend on, a doula could be a very important person for her. Good luck!
