He found the stud then drilled holes. I held the empty shelving unit up there and he put a giant bolt with gasket type things on either side and screwed it down tight. Hmmm... I don't know if that makes sense. There are spaces in the shelves with room to put a bolt through. It was easier than it sounds!

I just looked at your photos of the color, I like the color but I think a more light color of that color would look better. I like the color on your quilt and its right on the left hand side of the quilt and it looks like a sueded blue.

Here is my house. We have about 1100 sq feet on two floors - great room, den, 1/2 bath, and pantry down, 2 bedrooms and full bath up. Right now it seems very big! I think that is in part due to my purging and compacting efforts. I have given away a lot of stuff in the past couple years and managed not to replace it.

I included two different shots of Liam's playspace in the great room - one is the winter shot and the other reflects that we took a playstand to use outside.

If anyone wants to know the red paint was made by Valspar and is called Red Bluff. Apparently they don't make it anymore but I looked for a friend and found that Benjamin Moore Raspberry Truffle is a close match.

I'd love to see floor plans to your house. Is it by chance a log cabin cape cod? Your house is exactly like what we want to build on the land in the back, when we decide to do that. i went through a home once similar to yours, and loved it. I saw part of your house before when you posted the playstands you had made! Very pretty.

It is a Cape, partial timber frame rather than log walls. It was designed by my father, who is a builder. His niche is traditonal New England meets "green" building. We told him what he wanted and how much money we had to spend and he created a plan for us. He and dh did the majority of the work. Most of the lumber came from the family tree farm.

I have another question about your kitchen contertops...I'm guessing they some sort of sealed wood? How do they hold up? My parents are remodeling their kitchen this summer and have been looking at all different options for countertop.
