natural deoderant that works... - Page 19

Day 2 of using the Burt's Bees Rosemary Soap + crystal spray, and today I was smell less. Last night before bed I was very slightly smelly, but not as bad as when I washed with BS + crystal spray!

Just posting to say that I bought the Crystal roll on and I LOVE IT!!!! I put it on yesterday morning, then we worked out at the gym for two hours and I sweated my butt off. I was sweaty, but didn't stink. I'm embarrassed to say that due to kids and life, I didn't get a shower until just now. So it was close to 36 hours!!

I didn't read through the whole thread, but I wanted to share that Tom's has re-formulated their stick deoderants (and maybe roll-on's too, not sure) and where they did NOTHING for me before, now the lavender one works great for me and lasts all day. I think they put hops in it now. Try it again if you tried the old formula and it didn't work for you.

You don't have to wait until it's completely dry to get dressed-at least I don't. Also, it never takes 30 minutes for it to completely dry on me. Maybe you are applying too much? Some women use their hair dryer when drying their hair to help speed up the drying process. I just sometimes blot off the excess with tissue, finish up with my beauty & skincare routine, and then get dressed. Hope this helps!
I KNOW! And even better, I purposely skipped a day (and a shower ) yesterday and I was ok until this evening (48 hours.) I wasn't fresh smelling, but I didn't smell like onions like I did after 12 hours with the Adidas! This stuff works so well!

I probably am using too much. I remembered reading posts where people were saying to swipe it about 20 times, but perhaps that was the crystal rock and not the roll on. I'll try using less and see if that cuts the drying time. Thanks for the recommendation on this product!

I wonder when they did this. I have some lavender deo I bought last fall. It smells so good, I was so excited to use it. But I soon stink when I wear it! It did absolutely nothing for me. I have tried everything. I will list my reviews for other.

1. Homemade paste made of coconut oil, cornstarch, baking soda & lavender eo- worked fairly well, sometimes would lieave grease marks on shirts.
2. crystal roll-on - didn't help much
3. crystal spray - didn't help much
4. lichen deo I bought at Target - worked fairly well, but I stayed pretty wet.
5. Tom's lavender deo - didn't work at all on smell & I stayed really wet
6. Funk Butter - it was too expensive after shipping, but I love it. The mango scent sticks with you until the next day. That worries me that it is too much of a chemical fragrance- natural eos don't stick around like that. I stay drier with it than my homemade #1. I think it is the clay. I am really happy with it. I think I will try one of teh homemade versions next because of the high shipping costs.

I also wash with BS every time I shower. That seems to help.

The mango is definitely a synthetic fragrance, of course there's no such thing as mango essential oil! lol I think the cedar black fig has some of each - essential oil and synthetic fragrance oil. (No fig essential oil exists, either) You can tell if the label says "fragrance" or "fragrance oil" it's most likely synthetic, companies like to say when they use essential oils; gives them the "natural" image, so if they don't mention them they aren't in there.

The FB is basically exactly the same as the homemade stuff on your list, other than the fragrance. It's a shea butter/coconut oil/baking soda/cornstarch blend. I really believe the unrefined shea has deodorant properties as it seems the blend works much better when the homemade version includes it. The only difference besides the shea may be the proportions of each of the ingredients or extras we might add like your clay, that was a great idea.

I'm loving the crystal roll on too! I don't stink at all. I probably use too much too. I have been making vertical strokes all the way across (going a bit high and low) and then I make a trip around it all. I put it on and then brush my teeth and then sometimes blow on the pits a little.

Only the crystal rock or stick requires aprox. 15-20 strokes per underarm-not the roll on. The rock and stick have to be moistened first with water and applied "liberally" in order to allow enough of the salt to be applied to the skin. For the crystal roll-on, I just apply enough to cover my entire underarm and that 's it.

I'm so happy the crystal roll on works so well for the both of you. I'm jealous!!! In order for me to get 24-hour deodorant protection, I have to apply it every 12 hours: once in the morning and then 12 hours later in the evening.

I'm surprised it's working so well for me. I have tried so many things in the last year and none of them worked well (or those that worked had baking soda and I had a lot of irritation). I'm really excited about this. I wonder if part of the reason I didn't have luck before had something to do with being pregnant and then post partum. My baby is 9 months old now. Maybe things are getting back to normal?

I thought Tom's of Maine "Long Lasting Formula" that was introduced in 2006 was their new improved formula? You mean they reformulated their deodorants again? I've read mixed reviews about that formula causing irritation and rashes.

I'm sure your hormones during pregnancy and postpartum had a lot to do with the changes in your BO. I know during my period, I'm a lot stinker all over.

I've started applying much less and I use a clean hand to smear it around to make sure everything is covered. It ends up being a thin layer. It dries in under 5 minutes now! Whoo hoo! Thanks for recommending this!

What a great idea!

Baking soda. Right after my shower, I pat about 1/4 tsp of dry baking soda under each arm.

Can't wait to try some of the PP recipes!
I started to use baking soda about two months ago. I just dust some under each pit. It doesn't necessarily stop you from sweating, but it keeps the stinks away. I had to apply it two to three times a day at first, but after a couple of weeks I could go even 2 days without smelling.

I previously posted the two homemade Funk Butter recipes that have been tried and tested . Refer to page 17 of this thread, post#328 under Homemade Deodorants That Work!

I : Thai Crystal Mist deodorant. I tried the stone, bs and cornstarch, Funk Butter, and a couple of other things I've forgotten, but the mist has trumped them all. Both bs and Funk Butter dried out my skin and gave me rashes. The stone worked wonderfully, until it ended up smelling funkier than my underarms! There was nothing I could do to get rid of the smell; even soaking the stone in alcohol didn't do the trick. But the mist works just as well as the stone, and since the pump has no contact with my skin, I never need to worry about it starting to smell. I'm soooo happy with the mist!

I have the Thai Crystal mist also and it works better than anything except the funk butter, but I got a rash from that.
