Congrats Panthira!!

Congratulations, Panthira!

I wondered if I could apply for honorary status--I've been a member since 2001! I guess I'm not chatty enough, LOL!

Happy 1,000th post!

I feel so lost! I've been helping my mom remodel her new "old" home all week plus, I babysat Monday and today...It's exhausting...really exhausting. I have so much to do...I really need to start saying no to the babysitting...I'm just not good at it! I really must learn! My mom should be moved in in a couple of weeks then I can focus more on my own stuff. She has to work this weekend and dh is taking the kids for a horse ride. I opted out of that as it doesn't sound too appealing at the moment! Sooooo....hopefully I can get teh house whipped back into shape and spring clean at least two rooms. That is the goal anyway!

So in the morning I have an appt for a massage and an adjustment. I haven't had anything done since about 8 weeks and I am soooo excited. Mostly for the massage, but I need some relief in my hips! I'm dying here!

Anyway...there are soooo many personals to respond to...it's just not going to happen tonight. Do know I'm thinking of everyone and wishing everyone the best! I need to go find something to feed the kids and myself. I'm craving yummy, healthy something or other...just wish I didn't have to fix it!!

Ah... the weekend is in sight! I think I can see it- is that... could it be... Saturday?

What are everyone's plans? I need the sun so badly it's not funny. I think tomorrow would be a great time to monkey around with planters and pots and figure out where some herbs and perennials will go (just doing container gardening this year- new house, don't know what's under the soil just yet!)

Clara, it's supposed to be sunny and warm here this weekend, perhaps you'll get the same weather, only a bit cooler? It's been so dreary these last few days.

We're doing major gardening here as well, and I'm determined to get my herbs and smaller stuff in on the patio, which means finding some planter pots and getting really dirty. I also have some hostas to transplant. Mmmmmm. Dirt.

I bought T his first pair of flip flops the other day, and left them laying around for him to find. He discovered them yesterday, and he really thinks he's All That now that he has such shoes. Great discussion about why it's not safe to wear them while bike riding and other such activity, and he's wore them to eat supper, watch a short video and all kinds of other funny stuff. They're really just for the pool this summer, but he's in love with them. He even asked "why do they split off my thumb toe like that?" which I thought was the cutest thing he's said in a long time.

Oh, I hate weekends! Benji gets all off schedule, I never get any of the extra help I need, and dh usually ends up doing stuff for others all weekend. Case in point, he is shooting a commercial tonight and Sunday. He wanted to do it Saturday, but I reminded him that we have plans. Augh! We are going to try to take Benji to the Ren. Faire in town. He is in love with a fairy there, and we thought it would a fun, kind of for his birthday, kind of thing. I can't believe my Baby will be 3 next Saturday! I may cry because he is just getting too big!

This would be a perfect weekend to start packing, but my dad is still doing the mental thing and hasn't given me a 100% if we can move into his house yet. I hate playing games. I did drive by there yesterday and the woman that is renting hasn't even mowed the lawn yet this summer!! It is just awful looking! I called my stepmom to report about my mw appt the other night and I made sure to tell her about the yard. She is pissed and she told dad and he got mad too. They know that our yard is always mowed! grrr

So, I have no idea what we will be doing besides taking the boys to their practices tomorrow. This usually excites me to not have any plans written in stone, but right now I am hormonal about this move thing.

Clara- I'm considering the container gardening. I already started my seeds in the house, and they are growing strong. I've been trying to think of where I can plant them in my yard, but there really isn't an out of the way place that gets any sun. We live on the corner and don't have a fence, and the yard really isn't that big to begin with. Arg it makes me so mad! Last year was our first summer there and I planted squash and cantalope. It was awful! I didn't think ahead and they were climbing everywhere!! So, I'm really thinking about doing this so at least I can move into the sun and then out of the way. Do you know any good books/websites on container gardening?

Has anyone ordered maternity clothes from oldnavy? I can't seem to find anything that fits and that is my style at any of the stores around here. I'm a workout/yoga pants and t-shirts kinda girl, and all the maternity clothes I find are cute, but not for around the house, cleaning, and cooking dinner. I like oldnavy's clothes, but I'm nervous about ordering them from online!

i have a fun weekend thing - dh and i are going to a prenatal partner yoga workshop. it's taught by my prenatal instructor who may end up even being our doula. doula-wise - i feel like i'm going to want mostly privacy, but i also need someone who can be there with dd if she is at the birth (she says she wants to). most of the people who dd would love to be with wouldn't be totally comfortable being at a homebirth. do you doula mamas think that's a fair plan? i know it might end up like that in labor (especially if it's not as smooooooth as my first) and i might change my tune, but i really picture myself very much alone. i like the idea of a doula holding my daughter's hand through it, though.
and then on saturday i have to frame a bunch of prints to hang in the most lovely little organic baby boutique here in town. i made a series about things that i've found hard to explain to my daughter, and i think they are (STILL) turning out okay. in fact, i should go finish my work.
if i go at the same time as i did with dd then today i have only SEVEN weeks left!
this is flying - absolutely flying.
panthira - congratulations mama!
iampink - it makes me grin that your bp is so stellar.
ambam - i had a massage last week and my therapist did this cool squeezy hip thing and my sciatica is GONE. totally gone. i hope you feel fabulous after your massage and adjustment.
i just glanced around the room. i think i need to check out that flylady action.
hugs to all.

Amanda, I'd have to look around. A lot of info on container gardening that I've gotten over the years were from Martha Stewart Living, and from her old shows, and also a little trial and error on my part. I also do a lot of chit-chatting with the people in the nurseries to find out what goes well together. Finally, don't forget that the plant/seed info is your very best friend- some plants are going to like a little more sun and want to be on the east part of your house or yard, some are going to like a little more shade, and some (like mint or catnip) can really take over and need their own container. Check out Martha Stewart's website, and poke around to see if she has anything currently up about it!

It's definately warming up this weekend here, Bethany! I think it's supposed to be in the 70's all weekend, with clear skies. It'll be nice to see, after 4 straight days of gloom!

After trying on sooooo many different brands of used maternity clothes at a local mama/baby store, I would definitely advise NOT buying maternity clothes online - at least not the bottoms! You need to be able to try this stuff on. And Old Navy in particular it seems - not just their maternity clothes either - they have so many different cuts and styles. Depending on how the item fits, you will likely need to size up or down accordingly. :P

All I can say is that I snagged about 10 pairs of shorts off the "large" rack a month or so ago at the used store - big variety of brands - and only 3 pair fit decently. The rest were either too tight in the wrong places (and gappy in others) or just generally too small or too big. And I found some mediums in jeans that fit like a dream and others that were just impossibly too small.

Tops = much less risk buying online. And maybe flowy dresses. But anything that requires a good fit? Forget about it!

It's supposed to be 100 here by Sunday! On the one hand... eep! But on the other, I'm ready to enjoy my swimming pool and some anti-gravity.

For gardening tips, call your local gardening clubs, park districts, etc. If you have a county/community extension service, they can help too.

DH is working this weekend, at least on Saturday, maybe Sunday too. So it's not looking like we'll get much done.

My broken leg is killing me and I think I did too much yesterday with carrying the baby (the 15 mo old) around. I can't walk today without limping from the pain.

Oh, we do container gardening here. We have 4 half wine barrels to grow food. We have 2 long redwood containers of lettuce and spinach. Our srawberry planter is brimming and budding with new strawberries. We have a sweet pepper plant, and need to put the peas in a pot before they die. We even have a dwarf lemon tree in a half wine barrel. Of course we have non-food varieties growing too.

It gets super hot here so we have to water everyday starting about now. We also use an organic tea based fertilizer about once a month.

We are planning a busy weekend around here, it's gonna be nice and sunny out!!!
Today I'm off to get the twins cuz dh has to work till 4 and then a 5 hour round trip is alot for him to do. And I have the day off so I get to drive, I said I wouldn't drive it I had to pick them up from his evil ex but dh's mom will have them so I don't mind going, just burns me a bit that his ex is sitting on her behind not working and we have to do all the driving... I digress!
Then Saturday we have Junior Gardening Club and the kids are planting in contaniors and cleaning up our local community centre! Should be fun! and of course they will want to go to the park and go for lots of bike rides!
Then tomorrow we again will be outside until it's time to take them back to their mom's. Poor little ones never spend anytime outside unless they are with us! Oh and we have to stop by the toy lending library to drop off the toys we borrowed two weeks ago! I CAN NOT FORGET TO DO THIS!!!!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekends and I really hope the sun is shinning for everyone!

Oh and I forgot to mention dh's good friend, used to be our next door neighbor, just stopped in at dh's work yesterday to tell them they are expecting another little one in Nov! I'm so excited for them, they have a little girl that will be one in July. Long story short they have had to deal with a regrowth of a tumor (non cancer) the baby had at birth. They also have a 5 year old with lots of behavior issues so I am really pulling for their family! I think dh is a wonderful mentor dad kinda thing for them, this friend has struggled a lot and has not so family friendly friends! Of course I'm bias but I think dh is the best dad!
Ok I'm off to make the long drive, can ya tell I'm avoiding leaving!

The in-laws arrive

My in-laws are coming through town this weekend at the beginning of a three week road trip. They are staying at our place, in the nursery on the twin/trundle bed there. My MIL is an absolute dream and will be helpful, courteous and fun to be around. My FIL is a big bear of a man with a loud voice and I think he's missing the "tact" part of his brain. So having them visit is sort of a halfgood/halfbad thing.

I just found out that my BIL/SIL bought an extra Wii system, who knows why, and we are going to buy it from them this weekend. SO MUCH for getting DH's help with setting up the nursery or anything ELSE around the house for the next month or so. Oh well, at least it'll be fun to have the game system around.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Funny, your post just reminded me that we have one of those. I think the novelty runs out pretty quick on those. Or, maybe we are just too busy, or maybe that is just because dh works for a video game company....

Good luck in getting stuff finished.

What gets the most mileage, gamewise, at our house, is the Pacman/Galaga game combo thingie I picked up at WM a few years ago. It has Pole Position, Xevius, Galaga, PacMan and Bosconian. We all have fun with it - I kick a$# in Pole Position. And it's simple/basic and "innocent" enough that I don't mind T playing the games either. Tom does have a Gamecube, and T is only allowed to play games like Paperboy and Root Beer Tapper. Tom, on the other hand, will sit there for hours and play Sinistar. Rargh!
