Old quilts: use 'em and wear 'em out or save them? - Page 2

I am a quilter and I recently saw my first baby quilt gift I ever made. It was falling apart!, and less than half the size it originally was. It was the biggest compliment. : I offered to fix it, and turn it into a twin for her bed. As much as she wanted her quilt to be fixed, she could not part with it to be fixed.

So I vote use it, but learn how to take care of it as well.

I would not continue to use the quilt. I have the quilt my great grandmother made in 1880. Yes, it has some wear, but it's way more special to have a piece of this woman 127 years later. Inever knew her, but I'm so glad someone saved this for future generations.

I would probably hang it over the back of a chair, or it that didn't fit my style, I would properly put it in storage. Your children or grandchildren might really enjoy having this in a few decade. I have five generations of quilts and I really cherish them. There were plenty of other quilts and blankets to wear out.
