The Arrival of Peace and Love

My daughter Irina Kealoha was born at home on February 14th. I am just now finished writing her birth story.

The story is posted on my blog. It is far, far too long to post here. And it is long. Oh, and there are some bad words. Yes, I have a potty mouth. And there are some pictures as well. You've been warned.

I hope you enjoy it.

PS If it is inappropriate to post this, let me know.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It took a lot out of me to write it. For some reason writing my birth stories is very difficult. This is the first of three that I have actually finished. The other two lay about calling to me to finish but as of so far I have been unable.

Well, thank you. I guess I should thank those deceptive pictures, too. At 5'5" 180lbs, I am fat. Not just fat, I am obese, according to those charts. But I have faith that it will come off (when I lop off a leg or something!). I actually did lose the baby weight in between my son and my baby daughter and I still called myself fat. Here's where I wrote about that.

I am brand new to MDC, and this is my very first reply. I read your story a few weeks ago, and it was such an amazing birth story, written in such a clear and honest way, that it made me want to join MDC, partially just so I could thank you for sharing! Your descriptions were so honest and truthful, while also being so comforting and funny at the same time. I have told your K Fed song story to several expectant mothers I know already.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for sharing your story, and let you know that it really helped me gain perspective on my own birth experience. Birth, though natural and holy, is also really funny and strange, all at the same time. Thank you for helping me to embrace this.

Thank you. That is the nicest thing I think anyone has ever said about my birth story. That really meant a lot to me. Thanks.

Great story! I laughed out loud! I am sending it to my husband to prepare him for our homebirth!
