Thanks to the video in this forum that I passed along, I'm pretty sure my very pregnant friend, who was undecided about circ (and very, um, mainstream in many ways), is NOT going to do it! Hooray!

In case anyone's interested, the same friend told me today that she will NOT circ and that she thinks all moms should be *required* to watch the video I linked her to before giving birth! I'm very excited--first time I've succeeded in changing someone's mind (I'm a relatively new intactivist).

I'd also like to say that my one friend who has an 8 month old daughter and was still undecided about whether or not she'd circumcise a future son is now ANTI-circ after watching the Penn & Teller video two days ago! And another friend of mine who is currently 13 weeks pregnant and has been pro-circumcision for as long as I've known her is now "on the fence" and wants to do more research after watching the video as well. She also is going to make her pro-circ boyfriend watch the video as well. This is excellent news.

That is AWESOME!

Now, the other side of the coin is -- you need to make sure they're educated about the intact penis. So that they don't fall prey to all the rampant misinformation out there about the "need" to retract for cleaning or at well baby visits, the "need" to circ if the boy isn't retractable by a certain age, the "need" to retract for catheterization if the baby goes into hospital, the "need" to circumcise if there's a smegma pearl, etc.

I fear that getting the baby out of the hospital intact is only half the battle -- I think way too many parents are getting their sons circed later because of ignorant medical advice. :
