The time is right for a public demonstration of historic size in support of abortion rights and reproductive freedom for all women. Our rights are under attack as they haven't been in over a decade, and Roe v. Wade hangs by a thread in the Supreme Court. You can help build the momentum we need to preserve our rights. Please join us to Save Women's Lives: March for Freedom of Choice.
March for Choice

And anyone who comes to DC for this is invited to my house for a backyard barbecue!

lotusdebi, what do you mean about potential for violence? :

I marched in the last mega-prochoice rally in DC over a decade ago (or was there one since? I don't think so ...) and there were so many children and pregnant women on that march ... better than peaceful, it was positively ... sisterly. (easy for me to say; I don't have a sister ... those of you who don't get along with your sisters, lay off, you know what I was trying to say ... :LOL)

I'll be there but I don't think I will be bringing the girls. I am planning on taking this time as my own personal vacation too Not sure how DH is gonna feel about that but he's going away this summer with friends so he'll deal.

I am not trying to start a big debate, but how would marching save lives?

*edited- I just thought of the back alley abortion theory and think I answered my own question, but it wont let me delete the post.

Surely there will HAVE to be satellite protests throughout the USA...

I read an excellent article on Salon.com about intact dilation and extraction last week. More information than the average USA Today reader gets. As a mother whose tube was saved by a timely dose of methotrexate in a current system that does not require proof that my life is at risk, thanks. Pragmatism has its place.

I've only attended one (the big one in D.C. in either '89 or '90), so my experience is limited. However, I must say that, despite the presence of some anti-choice folks on the sidelines, there was no violence of which I was aware. And at the end, a huge group of us marched to the Supreme Court, chanted and boogied down to some cool bongos (while the police videotaped the whole thing, of course : ). It was fine. It was also fun. I'd take dd to something like that. Then again, the climate at the march might've changed significantly in the ensuing 13-14 years.
