Anybody else on bedrest??

After my doc appt. on Monday, I was put on strict bedrest. That means I have to literally lay down except for a 5 minute shower and use of the bathroom. He said it would probably be for 2 weeks--I'm 33 now.

I'm just trying to consider myself lucky that it's only a few weeks--I know people who have had to do this for months, and I cannot imagine what that would be like!

Just wanted to see if anybody out there was in the same boat...

I'm not (yet), but I wanted to say "hi". I was on bedrest for 5 weeks with dd and 7 weeks with ds. I keep waiting to start PTL....

Am I being too nosey in asking why they recommended/required bedrest? Just curiosity.

Let me say kkar....you poor thing! I honestly cannont imagine, I guess you do what you have to do. Thankfully you're almost there.

I went to my doc to get checked because I was having a lot of pain--I have a cerclage placed but up to now I haven't experienced any shortening. I've been measuring 3 cm for the entire pregnancy. This time I was down to 2.4 and was having some contractions. So I was sent to the hospital to be monitored--thankfully I didn't have to take anything for the contrax, and he let me go home, but with very strict bedrest.

I go back in on Tuesday--can I just tell you how much I am looking forward to that appointment?!? It will be the first time I've left my bedroom for 8 days.

Oh man- that must be so hard. Especially already having a child in the house. My body has put me on much limited activity- I have so much pain that I have to spend a great deal of time lying down. My kids are so sick of my inability to do anything! (And so am I! ) They do think it is funny that I can't stand for a whole shower- they come in and look at me sitting on a stool like I'm an animal at the zoo. I'm glad they can find it amusing.

Hang in there- every day/week makes a difference in the health of your babe! But I too will be glad when this pregnancy is over.

I don't know what a cerclage is, but how did they come to check your cervical length? Because you felt pain? I'm expecting twins and feel like I am getting sub-adequate prenatal care. No one has checked my cervix manually, but I did have an ultrasound at 18 (16?) weeks. Would something have shown up then? My pain is toward the top of my belly, just where it starts to stick out under my breasts.

A cerclage a stitch in the cervix designed to keep the cervix from dialating. My cervix is short, so that's why it was done, but with this pregnancy is has shortened recently and that's why I'm on bedrest.

My cervix is measured for length every 2 weeks via ultrasound. I have a friend who is also pregnant with twins, and she is seen every 2 weeks and has an ultrasound. The way she describes it, just carrying twins means you are treated as if you are high risk since the chances of early delivery is higher with multiples.

yes im on bedrest too. ive been on bedrest almost my entire pregnancy for various reasons. i am 33 weeks this weekend and will likely be on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy too.

all i can recommend is tivo and lots to do-i think im going to get some intricate coloring books this weekend to keep me busy. i got out of my mind with boredom and guilt, and i have two kids at home that are also going nuts-especially my poor 4 yr old!

Actually, it's not that bad for me this time around. I was on bedrest starting at 30 weeks with my last one and just psychologically unprepared for the toll it would take. This time around though, we knew it was a possibility and planned for it in advance. My kids (2 and 3) still jump all over me during the day wanting me to read and play, but we've managed to be pretty creative with our activities and everything has worked out fine. Plus, my husband has been super supportive and has managed to work from home 75% of the time - so no real complaints from me!

I think the most frustrating thing is that sometimes I just want to get up and help clean the house and I can't. Sounds silly, I know, but it is the one thing I miss the most.

I'm not on official bedrest but I've been fighting off PTL for a while now. My MW did tell me several times to take it easy and not do anything that I don't HAVE to do. I don't know how people manage to not go insane being on bedrest for several weeks or even months. I hope the next few weeks go by fast for you.

I've been on strict bed rest for over seven weeks. I am 36 weeks today and feel much better about delivering a full termer. I discovered the preemie forum when I was sent to bed and it's been very educational. Hopefully, I won't need it.

My advice? Sudoku and crossword puzzles have helped me pass a lot of time. Also, cross-stiching and talking on the phone to friends and family.

I have 2 DSs at home...one is 3 and the other 6. My biggest challenge has been meeting their needs. I've gotten lots of help from nice women from my church and my DH of 11 years.

Hang in there all you bed resters. It's totally worth it!
