The 7 month old I look after was on cow mild formula (yuk) so I wanted to get him onto solids as soon as possible.
He eats Sweet Potato, butternut squash, carrots, parsnip, spinach, basil, brocolli, courgette, butter beans, quinoa, cous cous, brown rice, rice starch pasta, lentils, celery, cashew butter, pumpkin seed butter, swede, corriander, watercress, apple and cinnamon, pear, banana, avacado, blueberries, millet porridge, baby muesli, fresh mango.
Over the next month I will introduce yogurt, cheese, pasta, ground almond, almond butter, baked beans, brown bread, cauliflower, amaranth, dried apricots, figs, barley, flaxseed oil, more pulses (he is a vegetarian baby)
He has 6oz milk on waking,
a bowl of millet porridge or baby muesli made with 2oz milk, with 1 table spoon pureed fruit at 9am
4-5 Table spoons of mashed vege with cous cous, nut butter, lentils etc at 12pm
a 6oz bottle of milk at 3pm
3-4 Table spoons mashed vege with pulses, rice etc at 6.30pm + fresh fruit (e.g 1/2 mashed banana, slice of mango etc)
before bed 6 oz bottle of milk
from 6 - 24mths a baby needs a minimum of 20oz of milk a day, either as a drink, or mixed in with food. If possible get a goats milk formula that is fortified with iron, as a baby needs more iron in there diet after 6 months.
I will not introduce egg yolk or tofu till 9 months, and egg white or whole nuts till 12 months.
