A surprisingly wonderful birth experience! As has been mentioned earlier, I had to get induced due to medical reasons, but it was still a wonderful birth experience!
Sydney Reid was born at 6:49pm at 5 lbs 7 oz. and 18 and 3/4 inches long!
The induction started at 8am. I was able to labor for about 6 hours on my own, but did end up opting for an epidural as I was still not making much progress. However, they did a great job, I could still feel the contractions, was fully aware and knew when to push on my own. Finally after about a half hour of pushing, Sidney Reid was born! She took to nursing no problem. The hospital I birthed at was VERY breast-feeding friendly and really worked with us and she was nursing like a champ within 24 hours!
It was a good thing after the epidural, despite her small size she has a bit of a big head and I didn't have much "room" and this resulted in some tearing which the doctor said would have been incredibly painful to push through had I not had at least some pain relief. Noentheless I am stiched up and although sore I am recovering fine with lots of rest. Mother, Father, and baby are all in love!
