TF affecting hormones

Before starting TF last October, I was an almost-vegetarian, eating almost no animal fats. I had never had regular, 28-day cycles, but since December, I am. Actually this time, it's more like 21 days, and I am having a few days of spotting before each period. And I am having orgasms for the first time in my life ! Lately my hair has been getting a little greasy if I don't wash it every couple days, and I'm sweating more.

Could all this be due to eating a lot more meat, eggs, and butter? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks!

Yes, this sounds about right. I'm not sure if everyone in this part of the forum has been to the Weston Price website but animal fats...which I don't care for... are supposed to be integral to health in humans. At least this is what his research suggested. I think your body may be getting more of the fats and protiens it needs to do things such as menstrate properly. Also, have you been consuming raw, organic products. I would think that hormones and such things in "regular" products could affect your body in such ways as well. I really am not a big meat eater either but do so for my bf ds. I have had increased health overall since straying from my vegetarian diet. I hope everything keeps working out for you.

My cycles have been closer together and my hair is definitely greasier! I don't know if it is related, but I am not necessarily a fan of these "side-effects"

Yes there are definite hormonal balancing effects! My husband was a vegatarian for 5 years before I met him. The first couple years we were together I was devestated by what I thought meant he wasn't attracted to me. Within a few months of a TF diet, especially bone broths and raw milk, his libido shot back up to very, very normal. It's great.

Yeah, neither am I, but if that's the price I pay for having orgasms , it's worth it!

with PCOS when I eat low grain, low sugar diet (basically TF) my cycles are regular and normal.

i think insulin really does play a big role in overall health.

Hmm. I haven't noticed any of those changes. We spent 2 months on a road trip and ended up eating at restaurants a lot. Then in December we got home and started cooking for ourselves again, so I began cooking TF (something I had barely started to do before our road trip but got interrupted). So we've been doing TF for over 4 months now.

Anyway, here are a couple reasons why we aren't bothered by the sweat or greasy hair that some other people mentioned. Since drinking kombucha on a regular basis, DH and I have noticed that our sweat no longer has a smell. And I've been washing my hair with baking soda (rinsing with diluted vinegar) for the past year, so my scalp oils have regulated and I only need to wash my hair once a week.

It sure is exciting for you to have proof that your new diet is having an impact! Give us an update in a couple months, k?

I drink lots of kombucha and also do the baking soda wash. I think it's just horomonal for me now! But we have really only been full force into TF for the last month (since we've had raw milk), so we will see how it evens out.

That's great news! I have PCOS and am really hoping that some dietary changes will set me on a better path, hormonally speaking.

Actually, come to think of it, the greasiness and sweat started after I started drinking kombucha daily, 2 months ago. Fortunately, the sweat is not stinky!

Hmmm never happened to me. We've always ate the same way, but I think making a huge diet change something will happen. I don't drink kombucha so can't vouch for that
