There is another issue here ...

There is another issue here. How would you feel if you were handicapped and really really had to go and someone was using the handicapped stall for something other than its intended purpose?

I only read the op

our local WF doesn't have that chair thing - and maybe they didn't have the room to add a nursing room? I know that I would never use that, but maybe for a woman who is embarassed to bf would appreciate it instead of athe toilet - ok, I know this makes no sense! I don't even agree with it!! UGH!

I, too, nurse dd in a carrier and in the cafe at whole foods. no problems. ours does not have a bfing "area." well, i used to nurse her there - now she is so stimulated in public places, she prefers to wait til we get home to eat.

There's this too. At our closest WF, in PGH, the bathrooms are one person, no stalls. Someone nursing in there would be seriously creating a problem for others.

There is no "nursing area" or special chair at our WF. We have a cafe. I've never seen anyone nursing either in the cafe or while walking around. There's no play area/story time, either.

When I first moved to this city, I was all exited about being near the WF. I rarely go there anymore. The parking situation is awful....it's in a plaza with a PetCo, McDonald's, Radio Shack, Staples, a couple of other smaller stores, a Boston Market, and a busy bank. The aisles are very narrow and the entire inside is just not set up very well. I'm usually irritated before even going in because of circling around looking for a parking spot, and then I'm even more irritated and claustrophobic after shopping.

My local mom-and-pop market has most of what we would buy at WF, so I go there instead most of the time.

Anyway, I think the nursing chair in a handicapped stall is gross and inconsiderate of the handicapped.

That was my first thought. It's not like a person who's using a wheelchair can just decide "oh, okay then, I'll leave this out here and use another stall".

Although, maybe this is an excuse for the chair? Maybe it's actually a place for people's personal health assistants to sit?

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm from Alabama and I know what it's like here.

People aren't always the nicest when you aren't in the 'norm'.

Erika, I didn't find your post to be offensive. The bfing rate is low here. People are not always very bfing friendly so the chair in the restroom wouldn't have been a shocker had it not been a WF store.

Yeah -- I know that rates are low here so I didn't think that what I said was out of line. *hugs*

So I had previously posted on this thread that our Whole Foods in PA doesn't have a chair in the bathroom but I was wrong Our WF is so small its got 2 single bathrooms next to each other, so you go in and have the whole room to yourself....anyways i guess i must always just use the first one but today it was occupied so i went to the second one and they do have armchair in there....
