Any midwives in St. Louis, MO?

I am due in early November and I am interested in talking to any midwives in the St. Louis area about home births. Is there anyone out there?

Just wanted to say "hi" - I'm in the St. Louis area.

I know of some Doulas, but not of any homebirth midwives. I think most of them work on the underground, if you will. You'll need to find a certification group and email them for local contacts. I found one in Granite City, but that's it.

I saw a CNM at Barnes with my last pregnancy, but she wasn't "allowed" to do deliveries. : (Hospital regulations). Barnes *does* now offer waterbirths and free doulas. At least that's a step in the right direction...but, still not home.

I can't give you a name, cause I don't know, but there is some old OB who does homebirth in the St. Louis area. A good friend of mine has a sister who has had two babies with him. She raves about him. A nurse/cnm comes with him.

You might ask around at La Leche League meetings. They usually have the scoop on homebirth midwives and docs.
